"Nick? You ready? She's gonna be walking through those doors any minute now. Please try and stay on your feet. Your taller then me and I doubt I would successfully be able to catch you." Brian said sarcastically.
"Brian! I'll be fine. I just need to see, Madison! She'll make everything all better. I know she will." Nick said as he anxiously awaited the church doors to open.
"Madison, stop shaking! Your going to mess up your curls!" LeighAnne said as she fluffed the back of Madison's cinderlla style wedding dress.
"I-I can't! I'm so, nervous? Is that the word I'm looking for right now? Oh...lordy! How is my make-up?" She asked.
"Madison! For the 75th time, it's beautiful.!" BJ said.
Both BJ and Leighanne were dressed in a pastel pink halter bridesmaids dress. Everything was set. All she needed to do was stand their as the doors opened.
Nick shifted in his sleep, yet once more. He rubbed his eyes and managed a yawn. He opened his eyes slowly, but noticed the same scene. Madison was still lying in the same place she was before. The same machine was beeping. His eyes began to close to the rhythmatic noise of the beeps.
Nick watched as the doors slowly opened. Their stood the most beautiful sight he could have ever wished his eyes could behold. It was Madison. However, his father was escorting her down the isle.
"Smile...don't fall, don't trip....smile...keep smiling." Madison said to herself.
The wedding was large, very large. Hundreds of people filled the very spacious Orlando church. Madison finally approached the alter and Nick reached for her veil....when....
"Sir? Sir??" The nurse said while shaking Nick back and forth.
"I do!" Nick said while smiling.
"Do what, sir?"
Nick opened his eyes and then shielded them as the sun felt like it was peircing through like daggers.
"Uh, do...do, nothing." Nick said confused.
"Oh, ok then. Listen, we have to take Madison up to the third level for testing. You might want to go outside with your friends. YOu can come back in when she gets back, ok?"
"Yeah....sure. Is she gonna be ok?" Nick asked.
"Yes!" Ths nurse said with a sweet smile. "You know? Madison is sure lucky to have a friend like you! I mean, with the situation with her having no family and all. You've really pulled through for her."
"Yeah, well, I would do it for anyone." Nick said.
But, that wasn't true. Sure, he would do it for his closest friends, but really only the people he feels close to. And definatly, he was feeling a closeness to Madison. To bad she wasn't awake to acknowledge it.
"Nick? How is she?" Brian asked while handing Nick a cup of flavored coffee.
"Thanks! Umm...they are taking her for tests now. She still hasn't changed. Still sleeping, or unconcious, or whatever you call it? You know, Bri, can I talk to you for a sec? ALone?" Nick asked.
"Sure buddy. What's up?"
"I had this dream!"
"Uh-oh, what kind of dream?"
"A really weird dream. Do you ever fantasize LeighAnne in like, futuristic things?" Nick asked.
"You mean, like, down the road?"
"Yeah, years from now. Do you ever imagine what it'll be like? What your life would be like with her in it?" Nick asked while sipping his coffee.
"Well, yeah...I do."
"I do too." Nick said quietly.
"With, who? Oh....wait....Madison?" Brian said with excitment.
Nick bit his bottom lip and smiled. Brian couldn't believe what he was hearing. His best friend definatly had it bad for her.
"Tell me about them. I mean, if it's not to personal!"
"Well, you were my bestman! You made some comment about how I'm way taller then you and it would be difficult for you to support me if I fell. And then, the doors slowly opened and their stood Madison...in this beautiful wedding dress....oh....Brian, I mean, princess! And, so she walked down the isle, with my dad escorting her, you know? I went to pull up the veil and then I...."
"THen you...."
"The nurse woke me up!" Nick said while smiling.
Brian shook his head and laughed. He led Nick back to where the rest of them were and they sat and waited for Madison to be brought back from her testing.
