Nick and the guys sat around the studio in down town Orlando. They were listening to their final track on the album. "The Perfect Fan" With all of them completely satisfied with the final outcome, they decided to call it a day.

"Well guys, I'm gonna head home. I've got all my laundry and stuff to do. Living on my own is so stressful." Nick said sarcastically.

"Poor Nick. Your finally on your own and it's stressing you out! Life's a bitch ain't it?" AJ said while patting him on the back.

"Yeah, your right about that!" Nick agreed.

"Well, I'll be home tonight. So, if you need help or anything Nick, call. Leigh Anne is good at laundry and stuff." Brian said.

"Thanks, Brian! But, Leigh Anne has already done one load of my luandry all ready."

"It's no biggie!" Brian said.

"Nick. Be careful heading home. It's rush hour and everyone is getting out of work right about now." Kevin instructed.

Nick rolled his eyes and then Howie spoke up. "Yeah, their are lot's of reckless drivers."

"Guys! I've had my license for three years now! I'm pretty sure I'll be fine!"

With all that said all the guys headed their seperate ways. Well, AJ, Kevin and Howie all lived around the down town Orlando area. Nick lived around Tampa still.

Madison Ringwald and her mother Diane had finally entered Tampa. They had packed up everything and decided that the Florida life was the way to go. They didn't have much money, so they didn't bring much with them. Madison was an only child and she only had her mother. Her father died when she was young and niether of her parents had siblings. Both of her parents, parents had passed on. So....it was just the two of them.

"This song is such a pretty song! I heard it the other day. Who sings it, Madi?" Diane asked her 18 year old daughter.

"Um, I'm not sure. It's one of those boybands. You know, like the New Kids? Personally, I think these guys sound much better!"

"Yeah, your right hon! Anyway, when we get a few extra dollars I'll buy you this cd, ok?"

"Thanks mom! But, don't worry about me. I don't need much to stay happy! Just you!"

"That's my girl!" Diane said while stopping at the light.

Nick flipped the station when he heard their song "I Want It That Way" on the radio. It's not that he didn't like his own music. It's just he's more on the modest side. He turned it on to and old Journey song. He slowed down as he got close to the Black Honda Accord in front of him. He noticed that they were two woman in the car. He stared straight ahead and watched the light.

Then, out of no where, from the left side of the street came a car. But, something was wrong with this car. It wasn't stopping. It was heading straight for the Honda Accord. Nick froze as he watched the Honda get smashed on the driver's side. The impact was so extreme.

"Holy Shit!" Nick yelled to himself. He opened his car door and reached in the glove compartment for his cell phone. He called 911 and then ran over to the Honda.

"Stay calm, Nick! Stay calm." He repeated to himself.

He reached the drivers seat and pulled the handle. STUCK! He couldn't open it. He walked over to the passanger side and he had luck with the door. It opened and he was looking at a young girl, maybe a year younger then him. No blood on her, but her shoulder looked dislocated and she had a bump on her head. He didn't want to move her, so he held her hand untill the paremedics came. The only problem was, her eyes wouldn't open.

"It's ok, I promise! I'll get you and your.....mom out of here." He said. He was guessing it was this girls mom. But, he also, deep down, didn't think the mother was going to make it.

Nick was relieved when he saw the paramedics jump out of the car. He decided to step back and let them do their job. However, he found it hard to let go of the girls hand. She must have known someone was their with ther, because she squeezed his hand thankfully.

"Ok, son, do you want to come to Tampa general with us?"

"Uh...I'm not family."

"That's ok. As far as were concerned your a life saver."

Nick smiled and then watched the girl and her mother being loaded into the back of the ambulance. He jumped into his car and followed the ambulance.

"Wait? Is the girl dead?" Brian asked over the phone.

"No...No, she is alive. The mother didn't look to good and the driver of the other car was killed on impact." Nick said.

"Oh god... Well, are you going to stay their?" Brian asked.

"Yeah, I want to stay untill I hear more about the girl and her mother. I want to stay."

"Ok, well, call me when you hear any updates, ok?"

"I will, by Brian!"

"Nick Carter?" The doctor said.

"Yeah, that's me!"

"Well, I have an update for you. Madison, the girl who was on the passanger side has a dislocated shoulder, but she also has a concusion. Her mother...died."

"Oh..no! God, can I go in and see her?"

"Sure, she is asleep. She could be asleep for awhile actually. Um, I would like to talk to you about something."

"Ok...go ahead."

"Madison Ringwald is 18. On her mothers i.d. it says it was only the two of them. The mother had no will written out or anything. But, because she is 18 she is legal for herself. But, I don't think they have much money. I'm not saying this because I realize your a rich pop star..." Nick cut him off.

"Wait a second! Don't start judging me, please! If your asking me to pay for her stay here, then fine! I would be more then happy too! But, don't just assume that I am like all the rest of the pop stars that give me and my friends a bad name."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound like that. Anyway, if you would like to, that is very generous of you. Her room is the second door on your left."

Nick followed towards the direction he was given. He walked into her room and cautiously sat down on a chair next to her hospital bed. He wanted to hold her hand, but didn't know if it would be the right thing to do.

"Uh, hey Madison. That's a pretty name. Ok, I'm talking to you. Yup, but you can't here me. Gosh, I sound like a fool. Alright, so, don't worry about anything. I'm gonna help you out with your stay here in the hospital. God, I'm so sorry about your mother. Ugh! This sucks. You don't even know about your mother yet. Well, I'm going to go. But, I'll be back. I promise." Nick picked up her hand and gently kissed the back of it.

Nick layed the grocery bag down on his kitchen counter. He decided to call his mother and tell her what had happened today. Nick couldn't get the scene out of his head. Madison looks so helpless, so peacefull, untill she wakes up and finds out what happend.

"Hello?" His little brother's voice echoed into the phone.

"Hey A.C.!"

"Nick! I miss you! Mom says I can come down in a few weeks!"

"I know, buddy! I'm excited. Listen, can you put mom on?"

"Yeah! MOM! Here she is, love ya Nick."

"Love you too, A.C.!"

"Hi, honey!"

"Hi Mom!"

"Nicky, what's wrong? Something is wrong. I can hear it in your voice." Nick's mom's voice was so loving.

"Mom today I wittnessed something that scared the crap out of me. It made me realize what it's like to have nobody."

"What honey?"

"Their was this terrible car crash in front of me. I got out and ran to the car. Their was a girl in the passenger side and oh, she is so innocent looking. So pretty, her mother was on the drivers side but the mother died on impact. They have little money and no other family. I stayed with the girl at the hospital for a while tonight, but she has a concusion and hasn't woken up from it yet. I'm paying for her hospital bills. But, mom, when she wakes up and is all healed she'll have no one. No one, mom." Nick sighed helplessly over the phone.

"Oh dear...leave it to you Nicky, to let your big heart lead you to what's right. What you did was very mature. I'm glad your father and I raised such a terrific young man. Well, I understand you have a big heart and that you want to help people. What do you think you should do?" Jane asked.

"Well, I thought of maybe asking her to stay with me for a while. Just 'till she had everything settled or longer if needed. I no that is extreme. But, it's the only thing I can think of. She's 18 and can make her own decisions by law. But, they have little money, mom!"

"Nicky, then you answered your own question. I think you need to go to the hospital daily to see if she is improving, let her get used to you and let her know you want to help. But, Nick. People like her, might think your just trying to impress them with the money you have. And in this case, your just doing it to help out. But, it could be taken the wrong way. Just realize that, ok?"

"Ok, mom! Thanks again! I'll call you when I find out more, ok?"

"Ok, baby! I love you!"

"Love you too, mom!"

Nick hung up the phone and began putting away his groceries. He couldn't get the events of the day out of his head. He wanted to help, he needed to help and he was going to help.
