Other Professional & Research Activities

  1. Active member of the DoD/STARS Methodologies Coordination Team, 1983-86. Research efforts of the team produced Methodman II (successor to Methodman I by Wasserman and Freeman); Ada PDL Survey; and Classification, Evaluation and Selection Technology for Ada compatible methodologies for US Army's Info Systems. Substantial R&D work to push technology to produce tools & techniques for Information Systems.
  2. Active research management as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR). My research projects included: Software Testing and Evaluation Project (STEP), PATRIOT AIR DEFENSE MISSILE FOLLOW ON EVALUATION III; Joint FAA and Army research in Distributed Data Bases; Joint work of the National Science Foundation and the Army to create Research Centers for Software Engineering at Purdue and University of Florida. This gave substantial research management experience.
  3. Active member of the organizing committees for several IS & CS professional conferences -- Empirical Foundations of Information and Software Science (EFISS), Third International Workshop on Software Specification and Design (TIWSSD), and Southeast Regional Conference of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery).
  4. Chaired Sessions at professional conferences -- Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group in Computer Science Education (ACM SIGCSE), Empirical Foundations of Information and Software Science, and Southeast Regional Conference of ACM. Will be chairing session at the First Conference of Information Systems Educators. Also, reviewer for its papers.
  5. Reviewed and refereed over a hundred research papers for various professional organizations -- Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group in Computer Science (1981-todate), Empirical Foundations of Information and Software Science (EFISS, 1983-todate), Third International Workshop on Software Specification and Design (TIWSSD, 1984-85), ACM Computer Science Conference, and Southeastern Regional Conference of ACM (1984-85).
