1. How did the band get started? How did you meet and how long have you been together?
Angela and Lotus started Downer from a former group called Shady Myers. Brett joined first, then Chris so they decided to change the name. As Downer they have been together for a year and half. Three of the four members have been friends since childhood
2. How would you describe your music?
Aggressive punk-adelic delirium
3. What are your biggest influences?
Jane's Addiction, Black Sabbath, CCR, Nirvana and Led Zeppelin
4. Who if any do you consider the bands idols?
As a band, Downer idolizes anyone who speaks the truth
5. What made you want to be in the band? And if you weren’t in the band what would you be doing now?
The need to express ourselves musically, being in a band came naturally. If we werent in the band, we would wish we were
6. What are some of your favorite bands that are really popular today?
Currently popular bands are a re-bashy of an original wave music. Some lasting talent is Perry Farrell, Alice In Chains and Rage Against the Machine
7. How many demos/albums do you have? Tell me about them!!
We have a four song demo and an 11 song demo. Both were recorded at DMS (Dude-Man) Studios in Albany, New York. We wanted to get our 11 strongest songs recorded for ourselves and the fans
8. What does the future hold for the band?
Hopefully to perform more shows on the Eastern US and open for some major acts
9. If you could play with any band who would it be and why?
Jane's Addiction it would be an honor to perform with such talented people that are so ahead of their time
10. Who writes the majority of the music?
It is split equally among the four members
11. Who has been the favorite band you’ve played with and why?
The band Culta Fatima at a bar in Oneonta called The Black Oak. It was a crazy fun time and everyone enjoyed themselves. The crowd was great and full of all our close friends
12. Where did you get the band name from?
The Nirvana song Downer. We put our four favorite names in a hat and the one that got picked
13. Describe what the band is like live?
The band is very aggressive live. The music is heart-pounding on the edge of punk
14. If you are gonna do any kind of video what would be in it?
If Downer did a video it would be dark kinda gothic and sober feeling. (Chris wants to add "with lesbians" and everyone laughs.)
15. Are there any touring plans made; if so tell me about them?
Downer just does shows as they come up, but they would like to set a schedule down soon
16. Where do you think the band will be 20 years from now?
Angela: Not on MTV, but big enough for it... Chris: On a tour making money... Brett: Performing at the Music Awards because of our continuous success... Lotus: We will be in a MICA house (everyone laughs)
