1. How did the band get started? How did you meet and how long have you been together?

The Reviled began as a back-to- basics punk/thrash project I started 93' while playing with number of the other bands (mostly notable Medussa, Hedonistic Cravings and Dead By Day). I'm really the only permanent member of the band, hiring guitarists and drummers to record and gig. it works out rather well, since I get to play with different people constantly. Having a constant influx of new people doesn’t really change the attitude or vocal, since I do all the singing, bass playing and song writing. In fact, it's a bonus having talented people coming and going, as it adds to the material, preventing me from sounding one-sided. Having spent many wasteful years with stable line-up bands, I much prefer this method of writing and playing, as I have no obligations to please anyone but myself. I can get things done as fast or slow as I wish, more so on the fast side of things. I guess you could call the reviled an anti-band. I could care a less about clubs and such. Since Madd made DWI's such a big business for the law enforcement and insurance communities, 21 years drinking age laws, MTV brainwashing and crime have reduced the crowds to nothing. Couple that with club owners who hate hard music or bothers chump-change gigs, and you wonder why any band still bothers with gigging outside their town. Though I do play bass with Punished (HC/Death/Thrash) here in town, and I enjoy on stage and raising sheer hell, I dont let it get in the way of the job that pays my bills and I feel that music is better off on CD or tape until things change is the USS of A

2. How would you describe your music?

Black Metal Punk

3. What are your biggest influences?

Venom, Sodom, Living Death, (early) Kreator, AC/DC, The Accused, Carnivore, (early) Voivod, Skinny Puppy, as well as GG Allin, Antiseen, DRI etc... I dig it all man

4. Who if any do you consider the bands idols?

I idolize people who flim-flam others. People like Richard C., VP Gore & Co, Anton LeVey, politicians, evangelists, anyway people, etc... oppos! Am I being facetious?

5. What made you want to be in the band? And if you weren’t in the band what would you be doing now?

At first, I resisted becoming the glamorous antirock star and pop-you-in-the-icon that I've become, as shamelessly worshipped and sacrificed to by doting fans galaxywide! I just wanted to be another unknown, factory-working rebel, rotting away in some unspectacular, dismal, southern city all week long to play bored drunks from chump-change in shabby dives on the weekends. If I wasnt doing this, I'd kill someone, and then I'll kill someone else. My life would accelerate into a cartoonish, murderous avalanche of sex and death like Peanuts, it's so hard to stop at just one

6. What are some of your favorite bands that are really popular today?

Seeing as how radio and MTV can make me violently ill, I'd have to say that none of my fave are pre-fodder. I simply dont expect to see bands like Antiseen, Fat Tortoise Butchers, Basic Skills, Negative Reaction or Violent Society becoming pop-icons

7. How many demos/albums do you have? Tell me about them!!

We have four releases, three of which are still available. The latest is destroy the Reviled (cassette $4, $4 worldwide) a nine song ford powered thrust of raucous, 24 track digital Black Metal Punk Rock Madness. Also available for a buck and two stamps is a three song tape from the album. Previous to that was a 4 way 7' split with Basic Skills, Youth Gone Mad, Bouncing Souls and The Reviled. At 3500 copies, it is no longer being pressed, as neither I nor Basic Skills see any reason to continue promoting the other two bands. There are still some copies of the first 7" flying through the air as though Lucifer possessed!!! For $2 ($1 for the record and $1 for the mailing) Also, we just got T-shirts that look like the "Creature" stickers for $10

8. What does the future hold for the band?

A new album on CD which will feature a number of local musicians from Charlotte bands, as well as a few old friends of mine from previous bands. Though forced to kill off my former bandmates prior to leaving DC, I'll be putting together a gigging band at a later date after recording has been completed

9. If you could play with any band who would it be and why?

It's a tie for Fat Tortoise Butcher and the Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13. Both put on entertaining show, visually, as well as songs that simply kick ass live. Besides, both bands are outrageous fun to hang with

10. Who writes the majority of the music?

I write all music

11. Who has been the favorite band you’ve played with and why?

Hedonistic Craving from Charlotte, Virginia. Though they no longer exist, we used to swap lots of shows when I played in Medussa. Hand downs, No one could throw a party like these guys. Hot peppers and hell raising! Straight out of south central, Virginia, that is!

12. Where did you get the band name from?

I named the band reviled after a political rival described me in a review as a revolting hyeme, begotten in a graveyard at midnight, suckled b a saw and educated by a feel, whose contempt of anything commercial or mainstream will ensure a deserving life of wretched poverty, wasted talent, and retarded sexuality. Watch me apply for that NEA grant, motherfucker

13. Describe what the band is like live?

A nuclear-tipped rocket-self on rails. Stripped and running full-thrust with an apocalyptic destination. Loud, fast, hard, and no bullshit attitudes. Just fans and the band, babies!

14. If you are gonna do any kind of video what would be in it?

Pure contempt for the rich seek to enslave and oppress the working-class peoples of the USSA, and the same for all the working-class people who blindly accept leadership into enslavement. That also goes without question for band who sign their asses away to suit-and-tie-guy record labels

15. Are there any touring plans made; if so tell me about them?

N/A

16. Where do you think the band will be 20 years from now?
