Japanese mythology their is a legend of rabbits making
special
Rice balls. They say if you look at the moon you can see the image of a
rabbit making those rice balls.
The rice balls are called Dangos. Dangos is also a term for dumpling.
In the OAV version of Sailormoon Usagi/Serena
Is called Odango-atma or dumpling head. Usagi means bunny and her last
name means moon.
Man in the moon. The image that is in the moon. It looks
like a face. The face is created by the dark splotches on the moon
called Mares.
Some orther old myths incuding that the man of the moon makes green
cheese. Another says that the moon is made out of green cheese.
The Full moon curse. Old European legend says when one of
the cursed stairs at themoon they change into a wolf. One is cursed to
become a werewolf by being bitten by a wolf
or having a curse put on them by a witch or a gypsie.
Maria's or Mares. One story about them is from Greco-Roman
Mythology. Neptune/Poseidan loved Ceres/Demeter. She asked him to make
her
a beautiful land animal. He worked real hard and created the horse. She
loved it. The term Mare comes from the Sea the dark splotches on the
moon are called Mares. The hoofprint of a horse resembles a cresent
moon.
Artemis The Greek Goddess of the hunt. She was the
aggresive Goddess who was Celibate
Her element was silver and she was also known as the Moon Goddess.
Luna Moon in Spanish. Also The Roman Goddes of the Moon and
Nnight.
Endmyion. He Was a shepard that was loved by Selene. She
put spell onb him to sleep for a thousand years.
The story of princess Kaguya is one of the oldest Japanese legends. A bamboo harvester went out one moonlit evening he to cut bamboo. after he cut open one stalk he found a baby girl the size of a thumb with golden hair. He took her home to raise with his wife and named her Kaguya. Kaguya would often stare at the moon with tears in her eyes and when she grew up she told her parents the truth. She was originaly from the moon and because of a war her moon parents sent her to Earth to be raised by kind and loving people. She was carried to the moon in a chariot carried by cranes
