Medusine staired at the prom advertisment in her hand. A malevolent smile formed on her face. She rolled up the add and approached the throne room.
"Medusine," The Queen said and the snake woman bowed before her.
"My Queen I know how to succed where the others failed," Medusine said
"How?" the witch Queen asked.
"Instead of targeting one I shall target many."
"Ahh did you find such an event where there will be many humans?"
"Yes I have," She showed the Queen the flyer. One look and Hectate licked her lips like a child staring at a dessert cart.
Sadie rode the elevator to Wyvern. It seemed funny to her that in less than a year heading towards the imported castle went from the feeling of an aw inspiring invitation to a magical evening to a routine thing. She entered the fire room to see Dara and Riley pour over English text books and note books.
"Studying?" Sadie aske.d
"Yeah studying," Riley replied." Finals are a couple of weeks away and I'm determined to graduate."
"Dara is your tutor?"
"Yeah my little side job is to tutor those who have trouble in English," Th auburn haired girl said. "The fact that college finals are over gives me more time."
"Did you get your grades?" Riley asked
"Straight B's I might have gottne A's if I wasnt abducted," A saddened sigh brought their attention to Goyalatrix who stood holding a tray of mini cinnamon buns.
"I'm sorry Dara," She said "I Didn't mean to lower your grade point average."
"Its not your fault Trixie," Dara told her. "Nosferus was the one who abducted me."
"I should have let you escape. I should have left them I..."
"Don't Punish yourself," Sadie told her. "You did te right thing in the end."
"Yeah all of that is in the past and the past is the past," Riley added
"What she means is don't worry about things."
"You can't change but look back on them as learning experiances, so you won't make the same mistakes in the future." They were all to busy cheering up Trixie that they didn't notice that Laurine and Asten had walked in.
"Guess who's going to the prom with a musician?" Laurine asked.
"He asked you?" Riley asked.
"No she asked me," Asten replied.
"Is this the Central Park High Prom?" Dara asked.
"The one where Evan and I voulunteered?"
"Thats the one," Laurine said.
"Your gonna be a caterer?" Riley asked.
"Yup,"Dara said and smiled.
Thank's for offering your servies." Principle Barton said. "A live band will make this a prom to remember. Miss Zines."
"Thank you," Medusine said.
"And its free?"
"Yes, they perform for free. People hear how good they are and go buy their singles pay to see them perform at clubs."
"Ahhh so its basically free publicity?"
"As well as a free performance for the prom."
Laurine slipped into her favorite sliver gown and slipped on her gloves.
"Your wearing your princess dress," Celest sounded pleasd.
"My most glamourous dates were in this dress." Laurine said. She placed her floral barrets in her hair. She applied her make up and was done. A gentle knock at the door brought her running to the living room. Mr Miller answered it.
"Oh Hello Asten," Her father greeted.
"Ahem," Mrs Miller cleared her throught.
"Come on in."
"Thank you sir," Asten said upon arriving. He walked up to Laurine and presented her with a lily corsage with a fusiha ribbon. 'click', Mrs Miller's camera whirred as she was about to take a few more pics of Asten pining the lily on Laurine's dress, of them together and finaly of them leaving for the prom.
Orion's mouth nearly hit the floor and his eyes widened.
"Call Chrissy, she has to report this," The brown cat said.
"Oh shut yer yap," Keyla said in her golden dress. Her hair was not only loose but was styled in bouncing spiral curls that glowed like fire under the lights. "Do I look like my old princess self?"
"No need to question it. All you need is a golden palace and you princess Aurorah again."
"Ok I'm going to wait for Richardo."
Richardo gave keyla a rose corsage and held her hand as they walked to the limo. Inside sat Laurine, Asten, Sadie and Ethan.
"Is everyone ready for the senior prom?" The red head asked.
"Yeah's yes's and a you bet." were the answers.
Upon arriving at the school they gave their tickets to the ticket taker and decided to get some punch. Dara and Evan were the ones standing behind the berry punch bowl ladiling out the red sweet beverage into light blue plastic cups.
"Keeping Prom attendies from dehydrating," Dara said and handed Laurine her glass.
"While making sure nobody spikes it," Evan gave Asten his.
"Yup were the students ladling out punch."
"With Style," Evan finished
"Thanks guys," Laurine said.
"See you around." Asten said as they walked off
the gang socialized with classmates until seven. The doors to the gymn opened up. The six friends went to their reserved table. After everyone got comfortable Principle Barton took the mike.
"Attention Seniors. The juniors have assembled an elegant evening," He said "tonight we have a special treat. We have booked the band 'Diamondback Souls' to perform at nine thirty. Dinner ill be served at seven fourtyfive." He got off the stage as the dj set up the music.
"Keyla and I decided to watch the stuff until the second ballad," Richardo said
"Ok then Asten and I will watch," Laurine said. Everyone agreed. Asten lead Laurine out onto the dance floor and took her arms and they began to dance,not just dance but glide to the music. She rested her head onto his shoulder.
"Look how happy they are,." Dara said peeping into the prom. "Is so sweet."
"Uh, Dara would it be foreward of me to ask you to dane?" Evan asked.
"I, my dear Evan, would love to dance." She took his hand and they begun to dance.Not too far away,a semi concealed by a potted plant, Holli Grahm smiled.
The dinners were delciosous, they were a choice between juicy welldone steaks, or grilled chicken in lemon butter. They came with mixed vegetables and noodles. Dessert were crescent shaped cheese cakes topped in strawberry sauce and sugar stars. after dinner the awards were presented.
"I can't believe Lucinda Perenez and Steve Connger were awared cutest couple," Keyla grumbled.
"It should have been Garret and Gina," Ethan agreed.
"Best Awards for Senioritis goes to Keyla Callahan and-"
"I won something," Keyla said before racing to the stage. Sadie won most shy female and Richardo best male class clown." Now its time to crown the prom king and prom queen," The junior announcer said.
"Prom King is....Ethan Olssen."
"Yo Hermano!" Richardo high fived Ethan. Sadie pecked him before he walked up for his cornation
"Prom Queen is..Laurine Miller."
"I don't believe it," Laurine said.
"Why not we all won something." Keyla said
"Sadie since tradition says I must dance with Ethan you can dance with Asten."'
"I've been wanting to dance with him for a while," Sadie teased. Laurine felt all eyes as she walked up to the stage. A female junior placed the pink cardboard crown decorated with glitter and buttons upon her head.
"And now the prom king and queen will have their solo dance."
"Be gentle," She whispered. Ethan just smiled as they begun to dance. Maddy Zine's, the lead singer of the diamond back tears began to sing a lovely ballad when the song was over other couples began to fill the dance floor.
The music began to heat up and Keyla and Richardo really began to boogie. The ripping sound of fine cloth halted Keyla in her steps.
"Whats wrong?" Richardo asked.
"Ripped my hose," She said and left the main room for the bathroom.
'Everybody is into the dance," Maddy thought and shifted into her gorgon form staring at the prom attendees her eyes glowed causing everyone's Soul Tears to Glide out.
Keyla left the restroom looking relieved. She had brought an extra pair of panty hose. She was about to reenter the prom floor when Dara grabbed her wrist.
"Huh?" The Seventeen year old asked.
"Don't go in there," Dara told her."Medusine has extracted the Soul Tears from everyone."
"Ricardo! Laurine,Sadie,Ethan,Laurine,Asten...all my friends,." Keyla gasped before shouting. "Sun cosmic Power!"
The floor of the prom was lttered with bodies. The Soul Tears floated over them shimmering and sparkling. Medusine was about to claim one of the brightest ones, that of the prom Queen
"Stop right there!" Two female voices shouted
"How dare you ruin the most magical evening of a senior's life!"
"Maybe the Prom Comitte will forgive you but we wont."
"I am the soldier of warmth and light Lady sun! In the name of the Sun I shall punish you."
"Enchanted by a new age I am Lady Shadow acting mysteriously."
"You may stop me, but you wont stop me from collecting the brightest tears from the other proms,." Medusine said. She didn't see Razor Cane land next to her.
" Don't listen to her," He said
"Fine don't," The snake woman smirked." Get them boys." The band members changed to lizard men and rushed towards the ladies.
"Shadow you return the tears to the other Ladies," Sun said. "Razor Kane and I will fight them."
"Right," Shadow said. Sun threw her chakram at one band member and Razor Cane threw his shuriken at the other. Sun als used o her lightdiscs at the third. Razor Cane struck Medusine with his cane.
"Little boy you shouldn't fight a lady with a stick," Medusine said.
"A female reptile shall not address me as litle boy.," R.C. Replied
"Venomous bubbles." a barrage of dark green bubbles were aimed at him.
"Shadow Cloud Engulf!" a black poisonous cloud surrounded medusine. "Two can play at the poisonous game," Lady Shadow said. Medusine hissed and was struck by a dark ink bubble in the face. The two heros turned to see Azurite armed with a clarinet standing tall.
Lady sun was surrounded by three band members
"C'mon guys I can only dance with you one at a time," She said
"Andromeda Siren Shriek!"
"Centauri Stone minotaur." The two attacks took out two of the band members. Sun's attack took out the third.
"Now use the wand," Andromeda said.
"Sun Aurorah Cleansation!" She twirled and aimed the wand,crystal side at the beasties. Multiple golden spirals at them and dusted the lizard men. Three snake chips fell to the ground and cracked
"Looks like your troops are dust," Azurite said "Care to join them?" Medusine turned and saw the three ladys. The sharp edge of Andromeda's ax shone brightly. She returned her gaze to the three infront of her and saw the sharp edges of Razor's shuriken and Shadow's blade.
"It doesnt really matter," She said "I've collected Soul Tears at the other proms already." She leaped through a vortex.
"What does she mean?" Andromeda asked.
"We'll figure it out later," Razor said. "Right now we got to change back. The tears are returning to their owners."
The rest of the evening went by smoothly and ended at midnight. The limosuine that Asten rented brought everyone back safetly.
The next day everyone went to Wyvern to talk about the prom.
"I still have my crown," Laurine said pointed to her head.
"Cool, you were Prom Queen?" Riley asked.
"Uh huh, Sadie was most shy female and I had the best case of Senoritis," Keyla said.
"She was best female speaker." Amara peted Riley's shoulder.
"Were you attacked at your prom?"
"Yes we were," Sadie said
"So were we," The younger girl said.
"That's what she meant." Dara said. "Did she steal a Soul Tear?"
"Yes she did," Amara said solemnly, looking downcast.
"The poor student is in the hospital," Michelle added
"Thoes monstrites have gone to far." Riley said "We have to take them down!"
"We can't fight them now. We have exams to study for."
"We will fight them and stop them forever," Dara agreed her battle ready exprssion changed to suprise. Evan looked eqully suprised. The others turned around and saw what they saw. Holli stood in front of the doorway.
"Soon," Was all th child said.
