Touchdown Trouble: A New Lady is Awakened

Laurine had felt as high as a kite ever since her sculpture had won third place at the art festival. Granted it was not first place, but it was more than she had expected. She was in an extremely good mood while she went to work and was still waltzing on endorphins through Sunday and Monday.

Tuesday she wasn’t scheduled for work and she didn’t have her gymnastics class. The buzz had started to wane, not that it did anything to diminish her energy levels. She decided to go for a skate through the park on her rollerblades. She also took Celeste so they could talk about the mission.

“So let me get this strait,” Laurine said as she skated along. “You felt no connection while we are at the festival and you also felt no connection while at gymnastics?”

“That is correct,” Celeste said. “Whichever of your schoolmates who happens to be a Galactic Lady has not been to those places.”

“I could try taking you to work.” Laurine tried to imagine her pet at the club. If the second Lady is there and she felt a connection then Celeste would run to her. “Not a good idea. I don’t want you on the darkened dance floor.”

“You are afraid I might get stepped on?” Celeste asked.

“Exactly.”

“We still need to find the second Lady as well as the rest of the team.”

“I know, now where will a lot of classmates gather. Lets see there are school dances, pep rallies, football games. Hey that’s it.”

“What is it?”

“This Friday’s game. It will be against the Dr. Turner Rams. We haven’t won a game against them in about three years and before that we always beat them for several years.”

“There is rivalry between the two schools?” Celeste asked.

“Only in a sportsman sense. Nearly everyone attends the game when we play against the Rams.”

“I will be on a lookout.”

“If she isn’t there we can figure out who didn’t arrive and try to find her through process of elimination, and you said it is only the senior girls?”

“A man cannot be a Galactic Lady and your teammates are in the same year as you.”

“It’s taking a while to find the second one,“ Laurine said as she turned her head to stare into Celeste’s eyes. “Finding the others are going to be next to im-”

“Laurine watch out.” Celeste shouted.

Laurine brought her skate’s to a skidding stop before she nearly crashed into another girl jogging in from the opposite direction

"Hey why don't you watch where your going?" The other girl asked sternly. She was about an inch taller than Laurine. Her raven hair was tied into a ponytail in the back of her head and held by a light pink scrunchie. A white headband was above her hazel eyes. She wore headphones, a Walkman, green shorts, sneakers, light pink ankle weights and a sleeveless white shirt that spelled out Dr. Turner High Track across her chest.

“Sorry,” Laurine said while ignoring the pain caused by Celeste’s claw’s digging into her skin.

“You should be sorry,” the other girl folded her arms. “All of you skaters and bikers clogging up the walkways is bad enough, can’t you at least look where you are going?”

“Excuse me?” Laurine had tried to be polite. "Maybe if you weren’t concentrating on your music you would see where you were going!"

"Look you were going faster on those skate of yours, so you should be more careful." The other girl said before jogging off. Dipoesia was written across her back

"Harumph. You okay Celeste?" Laurine reached toward her.

"I'll be all right. I'm, just startled," Celeste said jumping down.

“I know you saw that. I know I should have been watching where I was going and all but I apologized.”

“Yes you did,” Celeste said. “Some do not know when to let it go, but it’s not worth fighting about or to getting worked up. You need to save your energy for the Dark Kingdom.”

“Yeah,” Laurine nodded. “I need to replenish that energy. I need some sugar. Lets go." She placed Celeste back onto her shoulders.

Morton’s diner was one of her favorite place’s to get a nice snack. Laurine would often come to it when she was done with a skate and sometimes she will stop by after gymnastics‘. She would always make sure she placed her skates into a duffle bag or back pack and replaced her shoes on her feet once she arrived. After she became a Galactic Lady and decided to take Celeste with her, she had to squeeze her skates into one of the pockets and place Celeste in her backpack.

"Hello Laurine you usual?" Natty, the waitress asked when Laurine entered.

"Yup." Laurine replied. She found a place to sit at one of the stools at the bar.

Natty was her favorite waitress. Short and plump with brown hair streaked with silver. She wore half moon glasses on her nose. Whenever things are slow she would entertain Laurine with stories.

“Here you go,” Natty placed a slice of chocolate cheesecake with a glass of diet soda in front of Laurine. “You look a bit harried.”

“I had a small run in at the Park,” Laurine explained as she dug into her treat with her fork. “I apologized to the jogger, but she wouldn’t let it go.” She brought the bite of cake into her mouth. The sugary sweetness made her forget about the incident at the park.

"Hello Riley would you like your usual?" Natty asked when the door opened causing the familiar chime to ring.

"Yeah I need it after my workout." A girls voice said. Laurine recognized the voice and turned. It was the girl from the park.

‘Crap,’ Laurine thought and held up a menu to block her face.

“I’ll tell the cook to make it,” Natty said. “Maybe you can tell me about your jog. You look a bit harried as well.”

“Oh I got plenty to tell you.”

Laurine kept the menu up as she dined on her snack. If the other girl was still pissed then she wouldn’t want her to see her.

“Now Riley, tell me what happened.” Natty said.

“One of those skaters nearly crashed into me,” Riley said.

“Did this skater apologize?” Natty asked.

“She did but-”

“Well isn’t that enough?” Natty asked.

“Yeah, but the skaters and bikers just don’t look where they are going. They clog up the sidewalk and make it hard for us joggers.”

“Now they have every right to be there.” Natty said. She slid a slice of apple pie and a glass of iced tea in front of Riley.”

"They do, but they act like they own it. They are just goofing around while those of us who are doing it for exorcise and training."

“How do you know those other people are not training?”

Laurine smiled as she continued to eat. Natty was always a voice of reason. It was one of the reason’s why she preferred coming to the diner instead of the more popular places, that and they make some of the best cheesecakes ever.

“Well I guess those on bicycles could also be training or doing it for exorcise,” Riley said before she took a bite of her pie.

‘Just those on bikes?’ Laurine thought. She wasn’t just skating for pleasure. Only half of it was for fun. The other half was for exorcise.

“The others seem to be,” Natty said. “At least they are too me. I’ve seen some skaters who have this look of an intent on their faces. It’s just like those speed ice skaters at the Winter Olympics. Now are you going to try and tell me that they are not athletes?”

“Some of them do seem to be.”

“I have also seen the wheels on those roller blades type of skates,” Natty continued. “And it is very obvious those who use them work very hard to keep their balance.”

“I think I was a bit too rash,” Riley said. “And she did try to apologize. If I ever see her again I will tell her I’m sorry for chewing her out.”

‘And I will accept,’ Laurine thought as she continued to eat. She wanted to make sure Riley was finished with her snack and had left before she would leave. It would seem odd if she revealed herself to the other girl.

Laurine did not have to wait too long. Riley nearly inhaled her snack before she paid and left while Laurine took her time and sipped her drink slowly.

“Why didn’t you talk to her,” Celeste asked once they left the diner.

“I did. I always talk to Natty,” Laurine said as she walked down the steps into the bus station.

“Not her, Riley,” Celeste said.

“I didn’t want to seem to confrontational,” Laurine said.

“There was something about her.”

“Define something.”

“She might be an enemy or another Lady.”

“I’ll keep my eye out for her at the game,” Laurine said.

__________________________________________________________________________

After she returned home Laurine placed Celeste into her hutch and took a brisk shower. She slipped into her clothes and plopped on some flip flops, and put up her wet hair into a towel.

“Time to check the seahorses,“ Laurine said and looked at the fish in the tank in her room. They were bobbing along, the pipefish darted back and forth, the ghost shrimp were swimming along and the snails were sliding along the inside glass. She checked on papa seahorse. He was doing fine.

“Now for the news.“ She turned on the TV. Travis Marshall appeared on the with his news show about Manhattan’s hot topics. The first subject was on gargoyles.

“The sightings seemed to have doubled in the past few months,” Marshall said. “ There are those who seem to have seen those gliding high above the city skyline and some who swear they have seen them jump into manhole covers. There are even a few more rumors that they are created by Doctor Antoine Sevarius, the notorious biogeneticist who had been convicted of unethical crimes that many compare to Doctor Mengle.”

“Oh give me a break about the gargoyles,“ Laurine groaned.

The next subject was on the Quarrymen.

“The city is still divided about these self proclaimed gargoyle hunters,” Marshall reported. “There those who feel the Quarrymen are a necessity. That they bring order to chaos caused by gargoyles.”

“Bull,” Laurine grumbled . "They bunch of inconsiderate idiots."

“There are the other half who feel the Quarrymen do more damage and that being a rare species the gargoyles should not be hunted.”

“Hooray for common sense.”

“For more about why the Quarrymen may be a necessity we will go live with Wade Shalters and his interview with Assistant D.A. Margot Yale.”

“Is this the shrew that Mr. Macduff was talking about?” Celeste asked. She had just climbed out of her hutch.

“That would be her,” Laurine nodded. She listened to Yale continue her tired song and dance about how the gargoyles were beasts and need to be taken away.

“You were right about her being pretentious,” Celeste said.

“Oh good,” Laurine said when the focus returned to Wade. “She finally shuts up.”

“Thank you Wade,” Marshall said when the focus returned to him. "With all the gargoyles, Quarrymen and a new batch of strange monsters running about, Is there a hero we can cheer on?"

“New monsters?” Laurine raised her eyebrows. “Does he mean what I have been fighting?”

“Lets just watch,” Celeste said.

"Many people say yes,” Marshall continued. “And her name is Lady Andromeda."

“Holy,” Laurine jumped and sat closer to the edge of her bed.

“Three times this city has had reports of strange monsters,” Marshall said. “Some have seen a mutated plant, a fish like monster, and a vampire like woman use strange powers to sap out their energy. In all three events a mysterious super heroine has arrived and using an magical attack is able to defeat those creatures.”

“Don’t forget the time at the magazine shop,” Laurine pointed at the screen.

“There is also a report of her stopping a robber at Pajab’s magazines,” Marshall said .”I have spoke with some of these witness’s earlier today.”

"Well I'm grateful she saved my life at the Botanical Gardens a few weeks ago," a middle aged man with a bad toupee said.

"I'm a bit worried about her safety," A concerned woman said. “I‘m glad she saved mine and everyone else‘s lives at the Art Festival, but she looks so young like she is still in school. I don’t want her to get hurt.”

"Man she is one hot warrior," a youth said. He looked like one kind of stereotype of a geek. He was pasty faced and pudgy with greasy unwashed hair. He wore square shaped glasses and wore a black shirt with the X-Files symbol.

"A total babe," another one added. He was the other type of stereotype and a friend of the first geek. He was scrawny with the complexion of a cheese grater and an overbite. His shirt had a picture of the Starship Enterprise on it. “She’s the reason why we keep going to the Neon Lizard.”

“Oh man,” the first geek said. “You don’t want to know what I would do just to get a chance to meet her.”

“Trust me I really don’t want to know,” Laurine turned off the TV. Her face felt hot and she knew Celeste saw how much she was blushing. “I had enough news for now. I bet mom needs help setting the table.”

“What fools these Earth humans be,” Azurite said. He stood in front of the gazing mirror as it was set to pick up one of the local TV stations in the New York area. He had been watching the expose on their enemy while the servants prepared the dining hall for dinner.

“Oh man,” the corpulent human who did not seem to have the words soap and water in his dictionary said. “You don’t know what I would do just to get a chance to meet her.”

“I believe no one wants to know that.”

“How disgusting,” Sylvite said. She was standing next to him with her nose turned up in pure disgust. “These people are gross. Hopefully all the less desirable ones will be destroyed when we cleanse this world and make it our own.”

“How long have you been here?” Azurite said. He had sucked in his breath a little fast when he heard his sister speak, but he did not jump. He no longer jumped when his sister seemed to appear out of no where as she was wont to do. As children he learned the hard way why it was best to not sneak up on her and scare her because she would turn the tables on him and it would be as twice as bad.

“Only when those two diseases started to talk like that about our enemy,” Sylvite said as she twirled some of her hair onto her finger. “Why are you watching this anyway?”

“I guess you can say this is research,” Azurite answered. In truth he had no idea why he watched. He just felt compelled to.

“Learn about the enemy so we can know how she ticks.” Sylvite tapped her chin. “That way we can learn about her weaknesses. You have been full of good ideas lately.”

“Yes,” he stared at the mirror. The vision of the slobs and the reporter was replaced by swirls of green and gray. “She intrigues me.”

“By intrigue you mean annoy?” Sylvite asked.

“She reminds me of somebody I know.”

“Like Zoycite? He was annoying,“ Sylvite blinked. C'mon Borice is expecting us."

Azurite nodded and turned to the mirror. ‘We will meet again. Lady Andromeda. You can be sure of that.’

He followed Sylvite down several pathways and ignored the youmas who either nodded at him in an approving manner or saluted him. They all want to get on his good side since his plan has worked so far. He will decide on a youma when he has decided on a target the next time he goes out.

The long dark wood table was dressed in the blood red tablecloth. The one that was used for victories and the bronze candlesticks were used as centerpieces.

Azurite sniffed and caught the scent of a roasted pheasant, fresh baked bread, tomato and peppers stew , brazed carrots, grilled corn, lemon pepper noodles and chocolate pastries. He caught the eye of Feldspar who smiled and nodded.

“Lets us get your chairs Lord Azurite and Lady Sylvite.” Two of the youmas said as they pulled out the chairs for them.

“I hope you enjoy this meal, Azurite,” Borice said as soon as Azurite had sat down. “You deserved it.”

“Thank you,” Azurite nodded at his king. “If we keep to this plan then we will have plenty of energy in no time.”

“Good,” Borice took a sip of his wine. "Chrystia you have found a new source of energy.” He sat his glass down gently. "Tell us about it."

"The humans of this planet spend a lot of energy on sports," Chrystia said. She wore her ridiculous amount of jewelry even to dinner. "A very popular sport in this region is called football. During the months of autumn it has reached it’s peak. Every Friday night teenagers gather at their high school stadiums to watch these games.”

“A stadium full of energetic youths is a prime harvest,” Borice nodded. “Have you also selected a youma?”

Chrystia nodded. “My servant Gridiron is already there."

"You have done great research," Feldspar told her and held up his wine glass to her.

“Agreed,” Azurite nodded and selected a dinner roll.

Whoever came up with the idea of letting students see a copy of the school lunches a week in advance was a genius. It was obviously thought up for those who have certain food allergies, as well as dietary restrictions to be able to plan ahead in case an offending meal or side dish came up. It also warned students ahead of time when something they dislike, or it was a meal the cafeteria workers can’t right, such as beef stew.

"Ahh leftover tacos," Laurine said reaching into her paper lunch bag. She also pulled out a bag of carrot sticks, a can of diet Sprite, and 3 oatmeal raison cookies as well as a napkin with pastel blue flowers printed on it. She was proud of the meal since she put it together, although her mother was the one who made the taco’s the night before

"Hey Laurine can you believe this toxic waste they call food?" Ricardo sat across from Laurine, Gina and Sadie Von Starkfelsen, and next to Ethan Olssen.

"We should report this to the department of health," Sadie said trying to jam her fork into the rubbery vegetables of the stew.

"I agree," Ethan said sticking his spoon into the cafeteria stew. "I wouldn’t even feed this too my dog." Ethan was one of Ricardo’s best friends. The two were as inseparable as Laurine and Gina. He was crowned with loose dishwater blonde curls, intense green eyes and a great smile.

"I think it is made of dog." Ricardo said as he had a good long stare at his meal

"The ingredients of the cafeteria stew. sounds like a good mystery to me," Sadie said beaming. Sadie loved reading mystery novels. She kept her brown hair cut short in a style that was longer than a bob but shorter than shoulder length and the ends had a slight messy fringe. Her bangs were always cut nice and short to keep out of her amber eyes. She says it makes it easier for her to read, play basketball and to do her job at the YMCA.

"That's why Laurine and I bring our lunches," Gina said and held up her home made club sandwich.

“Laurine doesn’t always bring her lunch,” Ricardo pointed out.

“I only bring it when it is a high risk,” Laurine said. “That and my mom made a whole lot of tacos last night.”

“And you didn’t bring any to share,” Ethan had his lips set in a pout.

“Sorry about that,” Laurine apologized.

“Ignore him,” Sadie said. “He’s just joking.”

“And it is a bad one,” Ricardo said and placed his hand on Ethan’s shoulder. “Listen to me hermano, when you want to tell some jokes you need to come to the expert.”

Laurine turned to the other girls. Gina raised an eyebrow and shrugged. Sadie rolled her eyes and shook her head.

“What?” Ricardo asked.

“Nothing,” Gina answered.

Laurine decided to change the subject. "Everybody going to the football game tonight?" She had asked to have tonight off from work just for the game.

"Can't baby-sitting my little brother," Ricardo said. A soured expression came across his face. “And it’s against the Dr. Turner Rams.”

“Sorry man,” Ethan gave him a pat on the shoulder.

"And you know me no football-"Sadie began.

"Unless its the Dolphins," Everyone finished for her.

“Am I that predictable?” Sadie laughed.

“Yes,” Laurine nodded. Her friend only liked the team because of the mascot.

"I'll be there Gina, Laurine?" Ethan asked.

"Yes," They both said in unison.

“I’ll ask Garret later,” Ethan said.

“We’ll ask Donna and Ashley,” Laurine said. Their other friends and the second half for lunch. They would ask Leslie, but they knew she hated football.

___________________________________________________________________________

Laurine tried not to look like she was too nervous. She did not want to draw any unwanted attention to herself. She knew it was stupid to feel this way. It wasn’t like she did anything wrong. She did bring her backpack and placed Celeste inside.

“Now I know you don’t want to be seen with me,” Dr. Vale said as they neared the school. “I’ll drop you off a few blocks away.”

“You don’t have to do that Dr. Vale,” Ashley said. She wore a dark blue shirt with a silver eagle head printed over the chest.

“Yeah mom,” Gina added. “We are over that stage. In fact we have been over that stage since the second semester of our sophomore year.

“If you are certain,” Dr. Vale said as she turned into the parking lot for the stadium.

“We are certain,” Gina and Ashley said.

“You haven’t said much tonight, Laurine,” Dr. Vale said.

“Oh?” Laurine blinked. Great they are going to notice. “I’m just excited about tonight’s big game.” She was going to have to be more chatty if she didn’t want to rouse to much suspicion.

“All right girls here we are,” Dr. Vale pulled up along the curb. “Gina, call me when the game is over.”

“I promise,” Gina nodded at her mother while the others thanked Dr. Vale for the ride.

“Uh oh,” Ashley stopped short. Her eyes were filled with dread.

“What’s wrong?” Laurine asked as she fished in her pocket for her transformation pen.

“That,” Ashley pointed at the growing lines.

“And our salvation,” Gina pointed to where Ethan, and Donna were standing along with Garret Miller who looked like he had the perfect build for football, but he preferred wrestling.

“Hard part is over then,” Ashley said as they joined up with their friends.

The six of them only had to wait a few minutes in line to buy the tickets and then have another person rip their tickets in half and give them a copy of the stub before they stepped inside

"Anyone in the mood for a hot-dog?" Ethan asked once they had entered.

“We just got inside and you want food?” Donna gave him an “Are you serious” Type of look.

“I’m hungry,” Ethan said.

“We haven’t even found us some seats yet,” Gina said.

"I could go for one," Garret said. "I only had a handful of Cheezits when I got home from school.”

“I also didn’t get a real dinner,” Ashley gave her stomach a small pat.

“No time to argue,” Laurine handed Ethan some money. "Ketchup and relish. I'll go find some good seats." Laurine rushed toward the Eagle’s side of the field ignoring Gina’s cries to wait for her.

Laurine paused by the edge of the bleachers and when she saw that no one was looking she walked under the highest ones. She set down her backpack and unzipped it. Celeste crawled out.

"Sorry about the wait," Laurine apologized.

"Its okay," Celeste said. "I'll be searching for the second lady."

"I just had a thought," Laurine said as she zipped up her backpack halfway. “What if there is a third lady out here as well.”

"From the other school." Celeste wiggled her nose. “You might be on to something. I’ll search through both teams.”

“You be careful.”

“I will,” Celeste nodded. “You enjoy your game.”

Laurine walked out from under the bleachers and came face to face with the jogger from the other day.

"What were you doing down there?" The dark haired girl asked.

"I dropped some coins.” Laurine answered and pointed to the bleachers above. “I just wanted to get them.“ She wondered if the other girl remembered her.

“You look kind of familiar,” Riley said. “We met somewhere before.”

“Maybe it was at the Neon Lizard?” Laurine suggested.

“I never been there before.” Riley chewed her lip. “Wait, now I remember. You were that girl I nearly ran into the other day in the park.”

“Oh?” Laurine placed her hand behind her head. “Sorry about that.”

“You already apologized. I didn’t. I was partly at fault. Sometimes I get so caught up in my exorcise routine that I don’t see where I am going.”

“I’m sure that happens to everyone,” Laurine smiled. She was thrilled the other girl didn’t want a fight.

“Hey Riley,” some other students shouted. “We are over here.”

“I’m coming,” Riley shouted and ran off with her friends.

Laurine wiped the sweat off her brow. “Whew.”

“There you are,” Gina caught up with her. “Where were you?”

“I really had to go to the bathroom,” Laurine said with a sheepish grin. “Lets find some seats.”

________________________________________________________________________

The game was turning out to be a letdown in the excitement area. Laurine and her friends ate their hotdogs and slurped their sodas and were careful to make sure they didn’t drop their food whenever the Eagles scored, which seemed they were doing every few minutes. If the Eagles kept this up then Laurine would loose her voice from all the cheering and whooping.

Still it seemed a bit on the dull side. For some fun Ethan and Garret convinced the girls to start a wave.

Donna had also pointed out some of the snobbier girls from their school who also had the most annoying voices. They were seated two benches down from them and only a small group of stoner kids were in between them. Donna finished her soda and very discreetly dumped her ice at just the right angle. It missed the stoner kids and had landed right on the snots. The effect was even better than they had hoped. The bimbos blamed the ice on the stoners.

“Brilliant,” Ashley clapped. Her applause was drowned out by the clapping of the others.

“Sounds like we scored again,” Donna said as she stared at her cup and shook what little bit of ice remained. “What’s the score?”

“Twenty to six,” Garret said as he yawned.

“And it‘s now just halftime, “ Ethan said "Looks like a blowout.”

"It aint over till the fat lady sings," Gina said.

"Yeah but look at the Rams. They're practically asleep." Ethan pointed out

"They do look tired," Laurine said looking through her binoculars. "In fact their benched players are asleep.” The four guys sitting on the bench were actually leaning against each other and they all had their eyes closed. One of the benched players rolled off and didn’t seem to wince. He kept on sleeping.

"Let me see," Ethan said reaching for Laurine's binoculars. He brought them to his eyes. "Your right." He shifted his binoculars to look a little more downward toward the direction of the Eagles benched players. “Our benched players are also asleep.”

“What?” Donna asked.

“Now it’s getting interesting,” Garret said and was slapped in the arm by Gina. “What?”

The teams went into their huddles. One of the Rams collapsed.

“Did you see that?” Ashley asked and pointed at the scene.

The Rams’s coach and several others had gathered around the collapsed player. One of the referees talked to them and then ran over to another referee.

“Now what?” Ethan asked.

“The coach from the Ram’s wants to forfeit the game,“ One of the announcers said. “And wants to keep this game postponed until doctors had examined all of the players.”

Two more referees cam and joined the first two. It seemed that three out of the four were in an agreement. The fourth seemed to be shaking his head and crossed his arms on his chest.

Laurine reclaimed her binoculars from Ethan and looked again. The referees were arguing with the fourth who remained stoic and unmoving. Coach Harvell and the Rams’s coach came over and yelled at the one referee and shook their fists. The referee touched both coaches. They collapsed.

“Uh oh,” Laurine muttered. She hoped that Celeste had found the second Lady.

"No one is going anywhere!" The referee’s voice echoed through the stadium. He grew until his body doubled in size. His skin turned gray. His head morphed to look like a combination of a skull and a football helmet. The monster blew on his whistle. A hundred corpse like football players rose from the ground. The monster blew his whistle again. Half the zombies went after the football players. The other half chased the people in the crowds,

Everyone was running in many directions. Laurine separated from her friends and slipped beneath the bleachers.

"This is horrible," Celeste ran up to her.

“Did you find the second Lady?” Laurine asked.

“Not yet,” Celeste shook her head. “The second lady from your school is not here, however the one from the other school is.”

“Go find her.” Laurine held up her transform pen. "Andromeda Galaxy Power!"

Her body was still tingling from the transformation when she ran on the field and was nearly mowed over by three zombie. She used her sound wave attack to render them to dust.

“Now where is that monster?” She scanned the field for the gray creature in the referee uniform. He was not hard to spot. “Bingo.”

She ran toward him, only pausing when she came across a zombie. She leapt and kicked on in the head. Punched another in the gut as she ran past and kicked another right in his rotting butt when it blocked her path.

"Hey bonehead! I'm calling foul on your move," Lady Andromeda said when she had caught up with the monster.

“So you are Lady Andromeda,” the monster said. “You can call me Gridiron. At least until you die.” He blew on his whistle. "Get her!"

Ten zombies ran toward her.

Lady Andromeda leapt as two closed in on her. They crashed into each other and crumbled. Andromeda leapt at three more kicking them in the jaws and they too became dust. The other five soon shared the same fate.

"Andromeda Protection: don’t let anymore people get drained by the zombies," Andromeda said.

"Let go off me!" A girl screamed from the sideline. It was Riley, she was being held by one of the zombies.

“You have to destroy the servant of the Dark Kingdom,” Celeste said.

“But I can’t just leave her,” Lady Andromeda said.

“She will actually help you,” Celeste said as a pink comet shaped mark appeared on Riley’s forehead.

"Riley is the second Lady." Andromeda gasped as Riley stomped on the cadaver’s foot and kicked it away.

“I will take care of this,” Celeste said.

“Right.” Lady Andromeda turned around and ran back toward Gridiron.

___________________________________________________________________________

Riley had to catch her breath. She could not believe what was just happening. It had to be dream. That was the only explanation. Sure there had been other incidents with monsters appearing in the past, and the mysterious super heroine had appeared to destroy them, but she hadn’t been there to witness it.

“Riley over here,“ a sweet and pleasant voice called out to her. “Under the bleachers.“

“What?“ Riley stared into the bleachers and saw no one. “This dream is taking an odd turn.” She ran underneath.

There was a silver bunny with a gold ring like mark on it’s forehead underneath. Next to the rabbit was a pink pen with a golden cap that had a spiral like mark and on top of that was clear sphere with an image of a pink comet inside.

"Riley take this pen," the rabbit said handing.

"Oh man this is too weird, zombies and a talking rabbit?" Riley asked. There was no further doubt about it. This was a dream.

"Riley take it and say Comet galaxy power Make-up!" The rabbit instructed.

“Why?”

“You are the second Galactic Lady,” the rabbit explained. “You are like Lady Andromeda. You have the ability to fight the monsters from the Dark Kingdom.”

Riley grabbed as she saw three more zombies rush by.

“Might as well as go along with the dream,” Riley said as she held up her pen. "Comet Galaxy Power Make up!" pink sparkling light surrounded Riley.

___________________________________________________________________________

Gridiron had a small barricade of four more zombies standing in front of him.

Lady Andromeda decimated them with a sound wave.

“What else do you have?” Andromeda asked.

“How about these?” Gridiron blew his whistle. Twenty more zombies surrounded Andromeda. "Face it girlie this game is over!" He started to dance.

Andromeda rolled her eyes. "I hate showboating," She said and was about to fight more zombies.

"Hey need some help?" Another Galactic Lady ran up. She was dressed in the same white leotard as Andromeda, but her flower petal like collar was a light pink instead of silver. The same as her curved sleeves, her knee high boots, her arm bands and her head band. Her light pink skirt had a smooth and arch shaped hemline and the rest almost seemed pleated. Her tights and the trim of her sleeves was purple as well as the two star shaped barrettes in front of her white scrunchie that held her dark ponytail .

"What another one?" The monster’s eyes doubled in size .

"I am Lady Comet and now you have double trouble," The other lady said.

‘Great,’ Andromeda thought. ‘And just when I thought that mine and Celeste’s dialogue can’t get anymore microwavable.’

“I feel something,” Lady Comet said.

“Like and attack?” Andromeda asked.

“I think so,” Lady Comet said. “Comet Tracking. How is he controlling those zombies?" A small pink glowing ball formed and hovered in front of their enemy. It rose and descended until it was in front of his whistle and started to flash.

"The Whistle!" Celeste leaped onto Gridiron and removed his whistle from his neck.

" No!" The monster cried.

Lady Comet held up her hands. "Comet Interstellar Explosion!" Her hands started to glow and tiny pink stars shot toward the monster. He fell on his back.

"Andromeda Sound wave Shatter!" Lady Andromeda sent her attack destroying the beast.

She was such an idiot. How could she have betted everything on her servant. Chrystia kept mentally berating herself as she took the walk of shame towards Borice’s throne. She had to come up with an excuse and hopefully the arrival of that second lady will be just enough to keep his temper in check, or at least divert his anger from her and onto him.

“General Chrystia,” Borice greeted her.

“My lord,” Chrystia kneeled in front of him.

“You may rise,” Borice said. He held a tiny energy sphere in his hand. “Will you tell me why there is only one?"

“There were some complications,” Chrystia said. She knew she shouldn’t have tried to make a sphere that was twice as big the second time around.”

“Did you get greedy and try to take more?"

"Not quite," Chrystia said. "But that wasn’t the only problem."

"Don't mention that name." Borice growled.

"I won't but now there are two of them."

“Two of them?”

“Another one appeared. Now there are two. I think the second one is called Lady Comet.”

Borice clasped his hands together. “We need to increase the training.”

"I cant believe there won't be a rematch," Riley said as she sat back on a bench in the park. She had agreed to meet with Laurine and Celeste to discuss what had happened and about the mission and something about weapons. She wasn’t sure and Laurine had talked pretty fast.

"Yeah that really wasn't fair," Laurine said sitting on the same bench. Celeste sat in the middle. “I mean it was cool that we won, but the Rams had half their energy drained. There should be a rematch.”

“Exactly,” Riley nodded. She waved to a man as he jogged past in his gray sweatpants and hooded sweatshirt.

The important thing is that you both stopped the Dark Kingdom," The rabbit said. "Riley good thing you were there."

"It would have been nearly impossible without you," Laurine said. "Welcome to the team."

“Thank you,” Riley smiled. “But what is this Dark Kingdom.”

“The enemy we have been fighting,” Laurine said. “An evil force that has been dormant for a while and recently been released.”

“The two of us have to stop them?” Riley asked.

“Five,” Celeste said. “We still have to find the three others, but first Riley let me explain to you about your weapon and star pendant.”

“My weapon?”

“Celeste says we all have weapons that our powered by star pendants,” Laurine said “Mine is an ax.”

“Riley’s is the Cosmic Whip,” Celeste said.

“I use a whip?” Riley asked. “Like Indy?” She rubbed her head. “I don’t even know how to use a whip. This is coming in pretty fast and I feel low on sugar.”

“Ready to get our usuals?” Laurine slid off the bench.

Riley smiled. “I’ll race you.”
