The RPG Busters

It all started December 9th 1998, a group of rather disgruntled Sailormoon role-players, got together and decided it was time to crack down on the scum of the RPG world.. In other words, they became a RPG review group. They dubbed themselves, The RPG Busters, and from this humble beginning, things looked bright.

The RPG Busters, consist of a five (or is it four?) member group.. *ahem* Buster roll call!!!

Prof Tomoe - The brains of the group, and about the only intelligent member of the Busters (besides Pharaoh 90).

Kaolinite - Don’t know much about Miss. K, just that she handles all of the flames.

Mistress 9 - Ahhhh M9, I could write about book about her. ^_^ She’s feisty, definatly one to keep your wits about you when you’re near her.

Pharaoh 90 - Um, let’s just say he’s not the most vocal of the Busters (he’s also the newest).

The Twins - *grumble* I’ll just start off by saying these 2(?) have to be the most immature member(s?) of the Busters, they have gotten the Busters in more hot water than any other members

So what’s wrong with the RPG Busters? Well a lot. First off they seem to have taken a good idea, and just dropped it. They’re SMRPG reviewers, but they never review! They’ve reviewed on 6 RPGs since they started last December. Now I do understand that the Busters like to take their time (about 2 weeks minimum of actually playing in an RPG) before reviewing, but come on, with 5 members you can get more than 6 reviews out in 10 months.

Now you ask what are the Busters doing if they’re not reviewing RPGs? Well the answer is quit simple, they’re fixing their page layout/design! That’s right, if you ever want to see how a page is remodeled from scratch, just go over to the RPG Buster’s home page. I’d swear they’re not a reviewing site, but an ongoing episode of "This Old House". Now not that I want to start reviewing their layout, but I must admit that it makes no sense what so ever.. Tomoe (who is redesigning the page since their original HTMLer ran out on them), has slowly but surely been rebuilding the site. He’s left some pages with the original layout, and given other parts different layouts. Matter of fact he’s become so busy he hardly seem to post his reviews on RPG tools (ie. forums, mailing lists, etc.).

Speaking of updates, allow me to post a little list of each individual Buster’s page, and the last time it was updated.....

Interesting huh? They’ve certainly been busy (except for M9), in the past few weeks.. Sadly the truth is non of these pages have actually been what you could truly call updated. They’ve only been redesigned (by Tomoe), and haven’t seen a scrap of new CONTENT in the past few months.. So it doesn’t really seem like the Busters have been doing much work lately, truly sad isn’t it?

So when it’s all said an done, the RPG Busters really aren’t busting anyone to put it lightly.. They’ve become yet another stagnant SMWPR group, sitting out there on the vast sea of the Internet. So they’ve written a few reviews, made some nice looking pages, and have the tools to review, does that mean they can do it? I’m sorry to say that from my vantage point the answers after these past 10 months of watching, is a no. If they don’t start doing what they started the RPG Busters to do in the first place, they’ll be taking that long sad trip to the "Review places that are dead, or have not updated lately:" section of their infamous list..
