Chapter 2
Harsh Words - Harsh Actions

The man known as Wolf had earned great respect among the raiders. The Ubar of the Raiders had been wounded in battle and died. Wolf had become Ubar of the raiders of Klima.

As time had moved on, Rune had become a strong willed warrior. He seemed to have an attitude towards all the others of his camp. When he would be on raids he seemed especially cruel to the enemy, and would rather kill them then take them prisoner to work the salt mines.

SENSEI seemed to be a natural leader, often taking charge in the heat of battle and making sure all the raiders were returned to camp alive. All the brothers did well in battle and seemed to work together well.

There were three things Wolf valued, first was his lovely Free Companion, second was his sons, and third was the Scimitar the Ubar had given him when he had won the position of First Scimitar of the Raiders. He taught his sons the ways of the Scimatar.

One night Wolf woke his sons and brought them to the center of camp, where a bright burning fire was crackling. The young men stood and wondered what was going to happen. Standing side-by-side, SENSEI of no average size himself, was dwarfed by the huge Phelan. Zadedar looked about sleepily. RedWolf seemed confused. Justice seemed nervous. All the brothers were present but Rune. He was nowhere to be found. All the raiders were present. Wolf came to the center of the circle and spoke.

"My sons have honored me many times in Battle. With the Death of My Ubar, and with the support of my men, I was put in the position of Ubar. This leaves the position of First Scimitar an open. Tonight one of my sons will step into this postion."

The brothers looked at each other. A raider brought the Scimitar that Wolf coveted, and handed it to him, he looked to his sons.

"I appoint SENSEI to First Scimitar. Come forward son.”

SENSEI stepped forward as his brothers clasped their hands to their chest in gorean appluse. The raiders did the same. Wolf handed the scimitar to SENSEI and SENSEI turned to the raiders and shouted HAI KLIMA!

Unknown to all who were there, Rune was watching. He burst into the firelight and cursed his father, stating that he was first born and should receive the scimitar. His father said no, because he rejected the teaching of the ways of the scimitar. Rune spit in his fathers face and glared at his brothers. He looked to Gar and said

“Come with me brother, you understand what it is to be gorean, come, I am leaving Klima.”

Gar refused and elected to stay with his father and his brothers. Rune then looked to Justice and asked him to come with him. Justice too refused. Rune then spit on the ground at his brothers feet. He moved to where the kaiila were hobbled and saddled a kaiila. He gathered water and salt and he packed his pack as his family looked on.

He left the scene to never been seen in camp again.
