Christmas

Grandma surrounded by grandbabies: Dwight, Boyd, Drew, Lily, Elizabeth and Rose

Highlights from our family’s Christmas week. There were a few unexpected curveballs (illnesses and absences) … but it was a fun and blessed time, with many fond memories made. We even managed to squeeze in an early Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve party) before my brother and his family had to head back to Florida. Love and best wishes from our family to yours, in the new year and always!

Boyd and Courtney created these adorable and yummy cake-pop snowmen to share

Becky’s sis-in-law Diane Heiden Black and her family sent some amazing, thoughtful gifts, including a gorgeous wooden cutting board handmade by Diane’s husband Jim, a hoodie for Boyd festooned with faces of their dog Sue (the best doggie in the world), and sweatpants for Elizabeth, adorned with her cat Sunnie’s face!

Lily and Rose baked and decorated
an army of delicious gingerbread men
presents from Diane's family

Christmas morning at the Heiden House! Boyd, Courtney,
Lily, Grandma (Linda), Mom (Becky), Dwight, Rose, Jasmine, and
Elizabeth … and Sue, the best doggie in the world!
Elizabeth gave cards with funny messages to all of her siblings,
including her brother “Girld” (one of Boyd’s many silly nicknames)

Look what was in the packages!
Sue was so excited to open her prezzies!!
Socks bedecked with Courtney’s
cute face!! (evidently clothing
personalized with faces is the
“in” gift this year!)

It’s so much fun seeing the kids’ reactions!
Look at these unique posters, a gift from Jasmine
to Boyd and Courtney: Each poster features the entire script
for “The Big Lebowski” or “Pulp Fiction,” hand-written in
such a way to reveal an image from the movie.

This was my favorite reaction of the
day - Lily was soooo happy to open
her new “Bluey” game for the Switch!
The perfect T-shirt for silly goose Rose
A selfie with my new selfie stick!!

Grandma is so tickled with her sweet gifts
from Courtney and Boyd!
Matching Christmas kitty earrings!!

Big kids love getting presents, too!!
A lovely print of “Grandma’s Garden” from Becky,
featuring the birth flowers of each of her grandchildren

Mom looks a little dubious of this little gift
from me: Dilithium Crystals from the Starship
Enterprise warp core - yum!
Kicking off our early New Year’s Eve celebration,
playing “Bunch of Butts” with a bunch of butts

The annual tradition of playing “Pass the Present”
never fails to bring the laughs!
The Solo Cup game has become a New Year’s Eve
family tradition, too!
