For those of you who have not heard, my beautiful, strong, beloved older sister Ellie Miller Kirk passed away yesterday, after a brief and valiant battle with cancer. She was my first and best friend, my “rock,” my go-to person for everything; her calm strength and her unwavering faith in Jesus and her sweet, uncomplaining, joyful spirit were a testimony to others throughout this painful journey. Even in her last days when she didn’t have strength to speak, her smile and her calm assurance gave me and everyone around her comfort and peace, knowing she was at peace. She was a very private person and very few people knew about the challenges she was facing; she put a cheerful and brave face to the world, and carried on. My profound gratitude goes to those who did know, who were praying for her, and for our family. Continued prayers for our family are so needed and very much appreciated. There will be a Celebration of Life for her at a future date.

I can remember the confidence that Ellie exuded when taking on a class of pre-K children at church. I remember the confidence that I felt in her taking care of my daughter, Lisa at 5 yrs. old. It is so wonderful to have that great sense of relief when we trust one another with our loved ones. ...Thank You. I'm sure you have many beautiful memories of Ellie as do all of your children and grandchildren. They are to be cherished. She truly is special to us all. Linda, I always enjoy reading the Robinson Report and seeing and feeling the love of your family jump off the screen of my computer. I know there is a big gap. I also know that it is your trust in God that will see you through. And, the confidence that we have in Him. Linda, I will continue to pray for You and Laurie, Tom and Becky. My prayer is that God will cradle all of you with the peace that passes ALL understanding and uplift your spirits, and that His Holy Spirit be with all of you in a GREAT way!
