Burgess Falls

Burgess Falls

Boyd, Allecia and I packed a picnic lunch one day and went on a hike at Burgess Falls State Park.
There are several waterfalls along the trail, including this one at the trail head.

Allecia is a very talented photographer, with an appreciative eye for the beauty of God's creation. She will often find subjects for her photos in unexpected places .... for example, what looks to me like an ordinary little clump of weeds off the side of the path. She will get down close to it with her camera, surprising us all later with a lovely photo worthy of National Geographic magazine!

We discovered what looked like

such a pretty place for a hike!
The Upper Falls is spectacular,

After our day of hiking, Dwight, Boyd and Rosie all came to my house for a sleepover (Rosie's first). The plan was to make a pillow fort in the living room, watch a movie in the fort and eat some snacks, and for all of us to sleep in the fort together. It didn't quite work out that way, though!

Dwight was still tired from his Scout campout over the weekend and he zonked out on my bed before the fort was even constructed. Rosie missed her mom and went home before bedtime. But good ol' Boyd hung in there with us! What a fun day!
