By Aaron Paolino

It seems like yesterday,

The day I met her.

Even though it was a year ago,

It seems not too long although,

We’ve been together and apart,

And thoughts of her just pull my heart

When I’m not with her.

And though I know she’s far away,

I wish close by that she would stay,

But I know that right now it is best,

For when she’s happy I’m at rest.

She likes it where she is I know,

And farther still my heart would go,

Because I love her.

I love the smell that’s in her hair,

The way her eyes light up with care,

Hazel-green and full of love,

Smiling up to mine above,

Holding her against me tight,

Wanting her to spend the night

Sleeping softly.

Her hair light brown, her skin so fair,

My mind’s at peace when she is there.

A kiss from her is worth me more,

Than uncounted riches on foreign shores.

The touch of her so sweet and dear,

The tenderness in her eyes is clear

When we’re together.

And though I know I‘ll see her soon,

And to that time my thoughts will swoon,

I’ll pick her up and hold her close,

I’ll let her know I love her most.

Happy then I’ll surely be

When once again her face I see

Because I miss her.
