My little Alex, came just a short 14 months after DJ. Alex was a premie. He was 3 months early. That was the scariest time of my life. He was born Sept.29,1996 weighing a mere 3 lbs 9 oz. Everything happened so fast, I couldn't see him for hours. He was put on a ventilator because he wasn't strong enough to breath on his own. The first time I saw him, all I could do was cry. He was so tiny and had so manyneedles in him. But everyday he got stronger and stronger. A long two and a half months later my little Alex came home. He was on a heart monitor until he was 6 months old. He would just stop breathing and his heart would stop. Now alex is three years old. He has a heart mumur due to being born early, he has to wear glasses, and he has a speech impedament but other than that he has no major health problems. He is a regular kid. I had heard stories of premies with all kinds of medical problems, and that really scared me, but I am so thankful that my Alex is fine. I know that he was truly blessed. So if anyone reading this has a premie or knows someone who does, just remember that dynamite comes in small packages.
As you can probably tell Alex loves Elmo. We have to watch Seasame street everyday or he isn't a happy camper. Alex loves to go to the park, and slide. It's hard to get him off of it. Alex has learned his ABC's and he can now count to 15. This is huge accomplishment for him. The doctors and specialist say that he is a year behind mentally, but I can't tell. I think he is just fine. I will be changing the pictures alot, so please come back by. ![]() |
