"Here we are," AJ said parking across the house with blasting music. The place was packed. It was insane! They could see the disco lights flashing on and off from inside. Kara could see a few people, apparently drunk, throwing up by the pool.
"This is my kind of party!" AJ exclaimed and helped Kara out of the car and the rest followed. They made their way to the porch where a bunch of guys were cooling off. One of them whistled at Jenny as she followed Kara into the madhouse. Nick and Brian were starting to get uncomfortable. They weren't big party animals. They'd much rather be playing Nintendo64 or basketball. Jenny felt the same way and noticing Brian wasn't too excited either, she decided to keep him company. AJ was having no trouble fitting in, of course. Taking Kara's hand, he pulled her into the crowd of dancers.
"They look so cute together," Jenny sighed.
Brian looked over at AJ and Kara. "Nah, Kara deserves better than him!" he joked.
Jenny and Brian managed to find an empty couch and were just passing time talking about random stuff while Nick and Alexis stood nearby against a wall hoping not to be trampled.
"Jenny, would you like a drink?" Brian asked, standing up.
"Some beer would be nice."
"Beer it is. Save my seat," he said before heading off to the refreshments table.
"So, Alexis? Having fun yet?" Nick teased.
"Oh definitely!" she said sarcastically. "Are you?"
"I dunno. I miss my video games."
Alexis laughed, and looked over at Jenny and Brian who were talking, giggling, and drinking. "They seem to be getting along quite well."
"Yeah, Brian's just like that. He's always so cheerful."
"I bet he is...especially after what happened in the car tonight! I think Jenny and him would make a cute couple."
Nick didn't want to say it but he was afraid Alexis would mention it to one of them, and he didn't want her getting any ideas into Brian's head. "Brian has a girlfriend."
Alexis turned a beet red. "Oh. Sorry. I didn't know that."
Nick smiled. "It's OK. So, what do you think about AJ and Kara? They seem to be liking each other."
"Yeah...I guess."
"You guess?"
"Kara's not who AJ's looking for. I know it."
Nick perked up. "What do you mean?"
Alexis didn't know what to say.
"You like him, don't you?" Nick laughed.
"No! Not at all! I mean I think he's great but no...not like that!"
"Whatever."
"No seriously. I don't." Alexis looked away from Nick, and noticed that Brian and Jenny were no longer at the couch. "Where'd Brian and Jenny go?" she asked Nick.
Nick searched the dance floor, knowing Brian would never do anything stupid. "Oh there he is," he pointed out. Brian and Jenny were dancing to "Too Close."
"And you thought they weren't getting too close," Alexis teased.
"Wanna dance?" Nick said, changing the subject.
"I was hoping you would ask." She took his hand and he led her into the crowd.
