After the Prom.
Hi: I am starting another greeting card, send jokes, well wishes, etc campaign. This one is
for Rita Engelke (Grammer). Rita has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma and has comopleted her
first week of 5-day/wk chemo, which will go on for one month and then they will show her how to
administer it at home and she will be getting three injections a week for the next 11 months! In
addition to this she has an extremely rare eye disease called Melanoma Associated Retinopathy (M.A.R.)
....this condition is so rare that only about 60 people in the world have had it and they are still
searching for answers to it!! One doesn't have anything to do with the other. She did real good the
first week, and has a super positive, upbeat attitude about everything and that's what will count
as much as anything else. I'm calling/writing those that I know knew her, sending email and am also
contacting Mickey Cunningham of her class. Mickey puts their reunions together and I'll ask him to
contact their classmates. If we can all support her throughout this trying year I know it will mean so
much to her.
