The Fast Of Atonement
 

THE SEVEN ANNUAL HOLY PERIODS - 5 OF 7

          Fast Of Atonement:  The 10th day of the seventh month (Ethanim) prefigures the 10th year of the seventh millennium (6010 from Creation) (i.e. 2005-2006 AD Spring to Spring) (Leviticus 23:26-32).

          Atonement Is A Day Of Fasting:  The Hebrew tsôwm (tsôm), translated fast and fasting, is from tsûwm meaning to cover the mouth (see John Strong's Hebrew Lexicon #6685 and #6684).   Fasting is defined as afflicting one's soul (Isaiah 58:3-7; Zechariah 7:4-7; 8:18-19).   So, Atonement is a day of afflicting one's soul (Leviticus 23:27).   In turn, afflicting one's soul (fasting) is a simple exercise of self-control, control of one's urges, through the use of one's free will.   It's a demonstration of obedience and self-control to GOD and to oneself.

          Atonement Is Prefigured By Each New Moon:  And in each New Moon the true overtakes the image as the apparent sun overtakes and blots out the moon.

          The Messiah Receives His Kingdom In Atonement Year:  The Betrothed Bride is now given unto the Son as Jesus officially receives His Kingdom (Exodus 21:9; Revelation 11:15; Daniel 7:13-14,26-27; Psalm 118:15-16; 110:1-4; Revelation 12:10-11).   And this official transfer of the more righteous Kingdom, the Betrothed Bride, unto Jesus occurs on Atonement Year.   Yes, GOD now gives His Betrothed Wife (Hosea 2:19-20) unto His Son as an undefiled virgin.   The Bride then becomes as a daughter to GOD (Exodus 21:9; Hosea 2:16; Isaiah 40:10).   But note, the Messiah does not come for His Betrothed Wife until the year of the Solemn Assembly (i.e. after the tribulations:  Matthew 24:29-31).

          "For on that day (Atonement) shall (the High Priest) make an atonement for you (the People), to cleanse you, that ye may be made clean from all your sins before the LORD."

          The Admonition:

          "Also I (the LORD) set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the Trumpet.   But they (the People) said, We will not hearken.

          "Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O Congregation, what is among them.

          "Hear, O earth:  behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto My words, nor to My law, but rejected it."

Jeremiah 6:17-19

          On Atonement The He-Goat Is Both Cast Out And Sacrificed:  Thus, the ultimate of deceptions arrives on Atonement Year (6010 from Creation) (Leviticus 16:7-10,15-22).   The he-goat, of course, symbolizes Satan, the false Messiah.   And the false Messiah is cast out and comes with his angels via the clouds of heaven (Revelation 14:14-16), the dead are raised to greet him (Isaiah 14:9), it will be a time of great tempest and destruction (Ezekiel 32:7-10), and the false believers will flock to greet him including one-third of the Congregation will cleave unto him (Revelation 12:4).   Indeed, when Satan is cast down even one-third of the stars of heaven (the Congregation) will "sucker" for his ruse (Revelation 12:3-9,12; Ezekiel 32:7-10).

          Daniel Describes Events:  That is, Revelation describes three successive Kingdoms of the North:  the Sixth "Judah"; the Seventh ruled by two Kings, families, or powers; and, the Eighth Kingdom to be ruled by Satan as man (Revelation 17:10-11).   In turn, Daniel speaks of the end of the Sixth Kingdom (Daniel 4:30-31); the Seventh Kingdom (Daniel 4:32-33); and the beginning of the Eighth Kingdom wherein Satan, as "King Nebuchadnezzar," is praising GOD, deceiving even many of the elect (Daniel 4:34-37; Revelation 12:3,9,12; 14:8-14; Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22).

          "At the same time my (Satan's) reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my Kingdom (the Eighth Kingdom), mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords (human servants or subordinates) sought unto me (as the false Messiah); and I was established in my (the Eighth) Kingdom, and my excellent majesty was added unto me.

          "Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of Heaven, all whose works are truth, and His (GOD'S) ways judgment:  and those that walk in pride He is able to abase."

Daniel 4:36-37

          Completing The Deception:  Satan, prefigured by King Cyrus, will now build his Temple in Jerusalem, "the bloody city" (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1-7; Ezekiel 9:9; 22:2; 24:6,9; Nahum 3:1,7; 1:1; Habakkuk 2:12; Isaiah 1:21).   Note Isaiah 45:4-5 declares of Cyrus, "... though thou hast not known Me (GOD)."   Note also, Scripture says, "I (GOD) will go before thee, and make the crooked places (appear) straight ..." (Isaiah 45:2).   Thus, the great Pied Piper will indeed separate out the Tares (Matthew 25:31-46; 13:24-30; compare Revelation 12:10-11 versus 12:12-17).   Remember too, his Temple will serve as his seat of Government.

          Unbelievers Have Been Warned:  Unbelievers, of course, include the disobedient, the thieves, the wicked, etc. more simply called the Lost or the Tares.   Scripture admonishes:

          "The lord (Satan) of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of.

          "And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites:  there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

          Following Atonement Salvation Still Remains Open:  That is, the Messiah is not to be cut off from anyone until the end of Daniel's 62nd year which ends in the spring of 2010 AD.   However, at that point, at the end of 6014 from Creation, the Messiah indeed is to be cut-off (Daniel 9:26) as the Week of Tabernacles commences.   Until then people cut themselves off by their own actions and/or inactions, their failure to repent and change their ways, their failure to make sin offerings or other restitution (Job 42:7-10), and their rejection of GOD'S Word (Revelation 19:13).   It's that simple!
