When most people think of Montana, they focus on the west, where the Rocky Mountains and the pines carve a dramatic landscape and the rivers flow back and forth through the mountain valleys.  But RJ's childhood in the North-Central region of the state exposed him to the more subtle natural beauty of the Great Plains.  His lifelong love and appreciation for this landscape is the inspiration of his way of life.

RJ was involved in the theatre early in high school and later attended the University of Montana at Missoula as a drama and business student.  He worked as the tech director for the UM Theatre for two years and taking time off from school to tour with a variety of rock and theatre groups in the early 70's.  Being an avid outdoors Montana resident, he has traveled Montana for several years and when an offer came along to scout locations for a film, he was more than willing to do the job.  His interest has always been primarily as an actor but is always willing to do any and every job that means working on a film or commercial in Montana as well as anywhere else.

RJ has worked on several films in Montana, Michigan, New Jersey, Missouri and California in every department except wardrobe and make-up.  Most of those films would have some kind of small part that was cast at the last minute and being in the right place at the right time, he'd usually get a part in the film.

He has directed several plays, musicals and operas over the years as well as produced and directed live television productions in Montana.

"My education in theatre and film never stops.  There's always something to learn from everyday.  I'll give up on my dreams or the ones I love and never stop wanting what's in my heart... if I did that, I might as well be dead."
