In this cult hit, devout Irish Catholic fraternal twins Connor (Sean Patrick Flanery) and Murphy MacManus (Norman Reedus) are quite content with their living in illegal loft housing and working at a meat packing plant in South Boston. However, the morning after a bar fight with a few Russian mobsters on St. Patricks Day, Connor and Murphy are assaulted and kill two Russians in self-defense. After turning themselves in, they meet flamboyant and quick-witted FBI Agent Smecker (Willem Dafoe). They happen upon the mobsters' pagers, and decide that they must "destroy all that is evil, so that which is good may flourish." They sneak into the Russian Crime Syndicate's headquarters, manage to exterminate an enitre roomful of mobsters quite efficiently, and are discovered by their friend Rocco (David Della Rocco), a mafia errand boy. Soon, Rocco joins them on their quest to rid South Boston of all murderers, drug dealers, and all around sleazebags while Agent Smecker is closely following their tracks, trying to find the charitably murderous crime team the city has dubbed "The Saints."
