Musician Nick Nero (Norman Reedus) and poet Nick Beat (Mark Boone Jr.) make up the bohemian duo, The Beat Nicks, penniless visionaries whose survival depends on getting gigs. Their luck begins to change when they find a box on the streets that helps them land the gig of a lifetime at the Monkey Club. But Nick happens to set his sights on Nica (Elodie Bouchez), the wife of the club's owner, he learns that there are some truths that are better left unsought.
