Asteroid Blues:
In our introduction to Spike, Jet and the Bebop, the dirt-broke duo
find themselves a new bounty, Asimov Solensten, with 2.5 million
woolongs on his head. Asimov is busy with his girlfriend selling Bloody
Eye, a highly addictive drug which is sprayed into the eyes. Asimov and
his girlfriend go to down to a little bar to sell Bloody Eye, and the
bartender asks to see a demonstration of it. Asimov sprays some in his
eyes, and while he's in his drugged out stupor, the feds come in and
shoot up the joint. Jet visits what remains of that bar, when he finds
two people waltzing in looking for Asimov, when he gets a little info
out of them. Spike, later looking for some food, meets up with both
Asimov and then his girlfriend. She tells Spike about her dreams to move
to Mars. When Asimov sees them, Asimov nearly kills Spike and takes off.
Jet catches up with Spike later and tells how Asimov was with the
Syndicate, when he stole their supply of Bloody Eye and took off. Spike
shows how he managed to snag a bit of Bloody Eye. Asimov goes on to the
next bar to his next buyer. When he reaches to get his Bloody Eye, he
realizes it was stolen by Spike, who was the supposed bartender he was
selling to in disguise. The two get into a fist fight, but when Spike
finds himself in another fight, Asimov and his girl escape. Spike tries
to chase them down, but while Asimov and his gal are flying away, she
notices how his life has been taken over by Bloody Eye. While being
chased by Spike, they notice the cops blocking their exit to Mars, so
she takes it upon herself to kill Asimov, right before she and her ship
are blown apart by the feds. Spike and Jet end up as broke as they
started out, going on to their next adventure.
Stray Dog Strut:
Spike and Jet are flying around in the Bebop watching Big Shot, the show
for bounty hunters, when they see the next big bounty: a really tall guy
who gets lots of plastic surgery who's worth 8 million woolongs. His name
is Abdul Hakim, and he's wanted for a very special case that he stole
from a research lab, which supposedly holds something quite valuble. From
a doctor, Spike gets a picture of his most recent plastic surgery. So,
with this info, Spike goes off to find Abdul. Meanwhile, while Abdul is
at a local bar, a thief spots his case and steals it. Spike hunts down
that thief, thinking it's Abdul, and is about to bust him up until he
sees what is in the case. It's only a Welsh Corgi, a dog worth no more
than two woolongs. Spike lets him go, when Abdul comes back to get his
dog. As it would turn out, the dog is a very valuble data dog, and the
lab technicians he stole it from are also hunting him down. The dog does
not like Abdul, and when he tries to take it, the dog runs off, leaving
Abdul to chase it. Spike and the lab technicians notice him, and then go
off to chase Abdul, spawning a huge chase scene. Abdul and Spike end up
on a bridge fighting, when a boat comes by. The dog jumps off into the
boat. Abdul jumps in the boat and Spike lands in the water. But the dog,
who takes an immediate liking to Spike jumps off the boat and Spike ends
up taking the dog aboard the Bebop. Spike and Jet come up with a new plan,
when Spike has to walk the dog around the streets. But the lab guys also
have a plan, they set off a giant dog whistle that gets every dog around
chasing their van. The dog gets loose from Spike and chases the van, and
Abdul chases Spike, causing another chase scene. Abdul jacks a car from
some newlyweds and grabs the dog before the lab technicians get a chance,
so Spike gets his ship him and the lab guys chase Abdul down a bridge. But
right when Spike is about to nail Abdul, the dog opens the door and jumps
of the bridge. Spike ends up saving the dog. Then, once Spike is gone,
Abdul and the lab technicians accidentally drive off the bridge, and land
in a police station. So, Spike and Jet are stuck with the newest addition
to the Bebop, Ein the dog.
