Background Preparation

Moving to Arizona from Colorado in 1997, I addressed my education and future plans differently than I do today. Initially, I thought I was going to be a news anchor on television, so I chose Journalism as a major. I also believed that obtaining a high grade point average in college would be simple since I had a 4.0 gpa in high school. However, I eventually learned that a University education requires serious effort and determination in order to succeed. Through five continuous years, including summer sessions, I finally found a major that captured my interest. After considering Journalism, Public Relations, and International Business, I chose to pursue the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree with concentrations in Business and Communication. Both concentrations have prepared me with the knowledge to synthesize and integrate a combination of objectives. My greatest decision involving class scheduling was the pursuit of online courses. Overall, I have completed at least 10 Internet classes, which awarded me with essential technology and communication skills necessary to successfully operate in the business world.

Utilizing my knowledge, skills, and abilities, I plan to integrate personal and academic interests in order to achieve the ideal career. Now, that it is five years later, I am preparing for an entrance into the corporate world. Obtaining a Bachelor degree is now a reality, and I have encountered so many career possibilities. Through careful planning and serious thought, I anticipate a future in the world of business and communication. Currently, I am a student teaching 3rd grade while working full-time at a bureaucratic controlled communications company. Teaching is something I enjoy, but I believe my ideal profession is in a people-focused, business environment. Essentially, I intend to join a goal-oriented team working toward building and maintaining a successful business. As long as I find a rewarding career with a challenging company, I will demonstrate motivation and acquire satisfaction within the workplace.
