PLUNKETT & MACLEANE follows the fortunes of the
low-class Will Plunkett and society aspirant James
Macleane, who, thrown together by mutual bad luck,
turn to a life of crime to fulfil their ambitions:
Plunkett aims to escape to a new life in America,
while Macleane seeks to elevate his social standing.
The two highwaymen's antagonism towards
each other is comedically evident, and much
of it is centered around one-upmanship, before
they finally learn to fight their battles together.
