Luke Skywalker stays with his foster aunt and uncle on a farm on Tatooine. He is desperate to get off this planet and get to the Academy like his friends, but his uncle needs him for the next harvest. Meanwhile, an evil emperor has taken over the galaxy, and has constructed a formidable "Death Star" capable of destroying whole planets. Princess Leia, a leader in the resistance movement, acquires plans of the Death Star, places them in R2D2, a droid, and sends him off to find Obi-Wan Kenobi. Before he finds him, R2D2 ends up on Skywalkers' farm with his friend C3PO. R2 then wanders into the desert, and when Luke follows, they eventually come across Obi-Wan. Will Luke, Obi-Wan, and the two droids be able to destroy the Death Star, or will the Emperor rule for-ever ?

Grand Moff Tarkin - Peter Cushing
The mastermind of the Death Star project. A brilliant and ruthless tactician, Grand Moff Tarkin was a loyal adherent to Emperor Palpatine's vision of the New Order. He saw the Death Star as the ultimate weapon to ensure absolute rule over the galaxy. The power of the battle station's prime weapon was enough to deter any rebellion, he reasoned. To demonstrate the Death Star's power, he destroyed the planet of Alderaan. Tarkin perished aboard his creation. The Rebel Alliance dared to wage war with the Empire, and targeted a weak spot in the battle station. A proton torpedo volley fired by young Luke Skywalker sealed the station's fate. Tarkin was killed in the resulting explosion.

Darth Vader- David Prowse, Voice- James Earl Jones
When the Galactic Civil War raged across the Empire, Darth Vader was tasked with discovering the location of the Rebel Alliance's secret base. Vader captured Rebel operative Princess Leia Organa and had her tortured to reveal the location of the hidden fortress. Vader also sought technical plans stolen by the Rebels. These plans carried the complete schematics of the Empire's most powerful weapon, the Death Star battle station. When a rescue team successfully liberated the princess, Vader found himself face to face with his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Vader defeated the aged Jedi Knight in a lightsaber duel. Using the stolen plans to pinpoint the Death Star's weakness, Rebel forces launched a starfighter attack on the station. Entering the battle, Vader piloted his own specially modified fighter. He managed to destroy the most Rebel pilots in the battle, but was forced out of the conflict when his own vessel was crippled by the Millennium Falcon. In the following years Vader persued Luke Skywalker without mercy. Eventually he managed to track him to Bespin where he revealed himself to be Luke's father. However Luke managed to escape but this revelation forced Luke to eventually seek out his father and in the final apocalyptic battle of the Death Star 2 Luke finally managed to turn Vader from the Drakside back to his form good self Anakin. However in the process Vader was badly injured and died shortly after turning back to the Light side of the Force.

Obi Wan Kenobi - Ben- AlecGuinness
As the Jedi's ranks were wiped out by the machinations of the emergent Empire, Obi-Wan went into hiding on Tatooine. He would stay there for decades, adopting the name of Ben. The locals would refer to him as a "crazy old hermit," and gave the eccentric old man a wide berth. This all changed when Princess Leia dispatched R2-D2 with the Death Star plans to Ben. Recruiting Luke Skywalker after the death of Lukes Aunt and Uncle at the hands of the Empire, Ben revealed to Luke that he had the power to become a Jedi. After journing to Alderann with Han Solo and Chewbacca the ship they were on was captured. However Ben and company eluded the Empire long enough for him to disarm the tractor beam that held the Falcon captive and allowed Luke, Han, Chewy and the freed Leia to escape. Unfortunately Ben met his former pupil Darth Vader during the Escape and was supposedly Killed. Years later Bens ghost appeared to Luke in a vision through the use of the force and instructed the young Jedi to located Yoda the Jedi master. Bens ghostly vision continued to communicate to Luke through the force for a while but shortly after the destruction of the second Death Star these vision ceased and Ben became one with the force finally.

C-3P0- Anthony Daniels
Finally coming into the service of Princess Leia C-3PO and R2-D were to become the messengers of the stolen Death Star plans. Escaping aboard a small pod the two droids found themselves becoming the property of the Skywalkers. Eventually they located Ben Kenobi and accompanying Ben and Luke the droids soon found themselves caught up in the galactic battle between the Empire and the Rebels. Shortly after escaping the Death Star C-3PO and R2 found themselves growing further apart from each other. While R2 spent his time with Luke Skywalker C-3PO found himself always accompanying Princess Leia and Han Solo. However the two droids always found themselves reuniting from time to time and in the battle of Endor this proved to be extremely beneficial. C-3PO was mistakenly taken for being a God to the native Ewoks of Endor and as such these natives helped tip the balance in favour of the Rebels allowing them to overcome the vastly superior Imperial forces and destroy the Death Stars protective shield.

R2-D2 - Kenny Baker

Eventually they located Ben Kenobi and accompanying Ben and Luke the druids soon found themselves caught up in the galactic battle between the Empire and the Rebels. However when the droids and their new compatriots were captured by the Empires Death Star space Station R2 proved himself invaluable in helping them locate a method to escape and also help free Princess Leia. In the following battle against the Death Star R2 became Luke Skywalkers computerised co-pilot where he has remained ever since aiding the Rebels in many of their adventures against the Empire.

Princess Leia - Carrie Fisher
While on a diplomatic mission saw Leia's ship intercepting vital Imperial plans stolen by Rebel spies. These plans were technical readouts of the Death Star battle station, and could secure a sizable victory over the Empire. With the Death Star plans, Leia was given a mission by her father to find one of the Republic's greatest heroes and recruit him into the Alliance. En route to the planet Tatooine to find General Obi-Wan Kenobi, Leia's ship was attacked by Imperial forces, and she was taken prisoner by Darth Vader. She barely had time to hide the stolen plans into the memory systems of an R2 unit, and ordered it to find Obi-Wan on Tatooine. As a prisoner of Vader, Leia underwent terrible torture. In addition to the mind probes, the Imperials forced her to witness the destruction of her home planet of Alderaan. Despite this, she refused to reveal the location of the hidden Rebel base, or the whereabouts of the stolen plans. Shortly thereafter, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo rescued her from the battle station. Three years later after escaping the rebel base Hoth with Han Solol the Falcon landed in an asteroid field so repairs could be done. It was during these quiet moments that Princess Leia Organa fell in love with Han Solo. However Hans capture in Bespin forced the two apart. This was soon overcome as Han was subsequently rescued by Leia and his friends. Leia rejoined rebels in time to accompany General Han Solo's strike team on the moon of Endor. Their mission was to destroy the shield generator protectingthe Death Star. They succeded and the Alliance won the day.

Han Solo- Harrison Ford
With his co-pilot Chewbacca Han Solo became one of the galaxies greatest smugglers. Unfortunately during a stretch of bad fortune, Solo was forced to jettison a cargo of contraband spice belonging to the gangster Jabba the Hutt. The gangster put a price on his head so large that bounty hunters across the galaxy would come searching for the Corellian and his Wookiee first mate. Desperate for cash, Solo took a charter to the Alderaan system. He was to transport Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio from Tatooine to Alderaan for the price of 17,000 credits. When arriving at Alderaan, they discovered the planet destroyed, and were taken captive by the Imperial Death Star. Han agreed to rescue the captive Princess Leia Organa if he was to be rewarded, and rewarded well. After escaping from the Death Star, Han took the Rebels to their base on Yavin 4. Han decided not to participate in the Alliance's desperate attack against the Death Star, preferring to take his reward and leave. However he changed his mind and joined the battle just in time to cripple Vader's ship, and allow Luke time to destroy the station. After being forced to escape from the Rebels base on Hoth with Princess Leia Solo was forced to set the Falcon down for repairs and it was here he and Leia grew closer. However when he ran into his old friend Lando Calrissian Solo found himself being captured and frozen into a statue. However he was eventually rescued by his friends from Jabba the Hutt and returned to the rebels. Solo received the commission of General. He was put in charge of a strike team sent to the moon of Endor. Their mission was to destroy the shield generator that protected the second Death Star .With the help of the native Ewoks, the Rebel strike force defeated the Imperial forces, and destroyed the generator, paving the way for the victory.

Luke Skywalker- Mark Hamill
Luke Skywalker's life which began as a simple farmboy and saw him become the greatest hero the galaxy has ever known is an amazing example of this. Skywalker spent his restless childhood on the backwater desert planet of Tatooine, toiling away on his uncle's moisture farm. His guardians were Beru and Owen Lars.
On his uncle's moisture farm, Luke learned the essentials of desert survival and droid repair. Boredom was not as scarce as water on Tatooine, and Luke often dreamed of adventure and excitement.
Luke's life changed when his uncle purchased a pair of used droids from Jawa dealers visiting his homestead. The droids, R2-D2 and C3-PO, who were fleeing from the Empire. The Rebel droids led Luke on an adventure, uniting him with Obi-Wan Kenobi, a desert hermit and war hero whom Luke knew as Old Ben.
Imperial forces in pursuit of the droids murdered Owen and Beru Lars and destroyed Luke's home. With nothing left on Tatooine, Luke decided to follow Kenobi. He taught Luke in the ways of the Jedi Knights and the Force. Kenobi gave Luke Anakin's, his father, lightsaber.
Luke and Kenobi hired the smuggling duo of Han Solo and Chewbacca for transit off planet. They set off for Alderaan, to return the Rebel droids to their owner, Princess Leia Organa. They discovered Alderaan destroyed by the Imperial superweapon, the Death Star, and were taken captive aboard the monstrous station. There, Luke discovered that Leia was also held captive.
Luke helped free the Princess from the clutches of the Empire. Using data stolen by Rebel spies, an attack plan capable of destroying the battle station was formulated. Luke piloted an X-wing starfighter in the final attack against the Death Star, and fired the proton torpedo volley that destroyed the Imperial weapon.

Luke eventually accepted a commission in the Alliance military, and achieved the rank of commander. On the new Rebel base on Hoth, Luke served as a scout on the frozen plains of the ice planet. While on patrol, Luke was injured by a wampa ice creature, and dragged to its lair. Using his growing expertise in the Force, Luke escaped. Han Solo eventually rescued Luke from the frozen wilderness.
Luke then led Rogue Group's snowspeeder pilots in the delaying actions taken to hold off an Imperial invasion of Hoth. After narrowly escaping death by Imperial walker, Luke boarded his X-wing fighter with R2-D2 to leave the ice planet. Instead of going to the scheduled Rebel fleet rendezvous, Luke went to a planet mentioned to him by the spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi: Dagobah.
On the swamp planet of Dagobah, Luke learned the ways of the Force from Yoda the Jedi Master. Yoda honed Luke's Jedi abilities, but his training was cut short as Luke had to go rescue his friends on Bespin. Little did Luke know that it was all an elaborate trap devised by Darth Vader. Luke confronted Vader in Bespin's Cloud City, and was bested by him in a lightsaber duel. Luke suffered the loss of his hand, and the revelation that Darth Vader was in fact his father. Luke was rescued from Cloud City by Leia, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian, and eventually returned to the Rebel fleet. Droid surgeons equipped Luke with a cybernetic replacement hand.
