She ran a successful Modelling Agency in New Delhi.
Lavlin taught in the School of Foreign Languages at JNU, New Delhi and was the Head of the Russian Service at the External Services Division of All-India Radio.
She worked as Editor of the Children's Page of the Hindustan Times and wrote story books for children as well as published a collection of poems in English.
Lavlin has produced and directed several telefilms and serials for Doordarshan some of which were screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
She has also acted under established film directors such as I S Johar, M S Sathyu, Lekh Tandon, and Ved Rahi.
Lavlin has compered and anchored many programs on Television wherein she interviewed personalities such as Indira Gandhi, A B Vajpayee, Peter O'Toole, Brezhnev and Mother Teresa.
She is currently in the Governing Body of the British School and Kamla Nehru College, New Delhi.
