Née Sharon Murphy on November 10th, 1977 (that's right, guys she's a Scorpio, they know how to have fun), Brittany was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where fun was invented. You might assume that this led to a very fun childhood, but you would be mistaken. Brittany's parents separated and the young aspiring actress was forced to move to New Jersey, where people don't have much fun (just see any Todd Solondz or Kevin Smith film). There she discovered regional theatre and appeared in productions of Les Miserables and Really Rosie, which were lauded by the school papers. head of the class As a preteen, she hired a manager and later moved to Burbank, California, outside of Hollywood, where her career would take off. Brittany's first foray out of the school entertainment world was in the commercial work universe. She soon landed a role on one of the early Fox network's parade of disposable series, Drexell's Class with soon-to-be American Pie star, Jason Biggs. After gaining experience in a slew of short-run TV shows, she finally landed her big break as Tai Fraiser in the 1995 sleeper hit, Clueless, with superstar Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash. From there she ran through various lesser-known films such as Freeway, Drive, Bongwater, Phoenix, and Falling Sky (we told you they were lesser-known), and she was off the blockbuster scene for several years. In 1999, Brittany hit some gold in films of the estrogen variety such as Drop Dead Gorgeous with Denise Richards, Girl, Interrupted with Winona Ryder, Riding in Cars with Boys with Drew Barrymore, and most recently, Sidewalks of New York with Heather Graham. She has also been the voice of trailer-park sweetie, Luanne Platter on Mike Judge's King of the Hill since 1997, and her "I'll never tell" eerie chant from the Michael Douglas thriller, Don't Say a Word is surely stapled in moviegoers' minds. Brittany will be starring in the role of Alex in the drama based on Eminem's life, 8 Mile. She will also be appearing in a bunch of films in 2002, so look out for Just Married and Spun.
