“ Good afternoon, everyone. I am glad that you are were very successful in building your lightsabers. Before we start to learn about the next two Saber Forms of Combat, I would like to see you do Shii-Cho.” Master Vaunk looked at all the students.
Everybody got up and went into the next room, where they got with their sparring partners to see what they remember or to see how well they remember their First Form of Combat. Twenty minutes later, all came back into the other room and sat back down in their seats.
“ Now, we are going to start learning two new Forms, Form II or Makashi or as it is also known as the Contention Form. Some may even call it the way of the Ysalamiri, after the curious creatures from the Inner Rim. The Makashi emphasize on precision strikes and well balanced foot work. A Form II practitioner must keep both feet, one in front of the other, on a line and advances or retreats along this line, avoiding the leaps and acrobatics of Form IV. This Form is a one handed style, thus it is adherents prefer using a well-balanced lightsaber which includes the Curved-hilt variants. A successful Form II duels quickly ended by penetrating an opponent’s defenses and landing a Mark of Contact or by disarming strike. Skilled duelists are proficient in two Marks of Contact: Sun Djem – which allows them to swiftly dislodge the lightsaber with quick, spinning moves or by striking a burning, an enemy’s fingers. Shiak – consists of straight-ahead piercing stabs that are a natural result of this stance. And because of that a fewer Padawans have elected to study Form II, but however I consider Form II is the most disciplined of all Forms, and I still encourage its study.
The next Form that we will also be working on is Form III or its other name is Soresu, some also call it the Resilience Form or the Way of the Mynock. And for those of you who wish to study this Form are advised to practice their Mediation, for Soresu is the most inward directed of all Forms. This Form is the ideal lightsaber style for intercepting blaster fire and is common among ExplorCorps members and other Jedi who spend time on the Rim. When a Jedi is faced with a single blaster-carrying brut, a deflecting slash is advised. Bolts can be turned back on some vector from which they came, but this precision move is more commonly used under Form V. With this Form the enemy will get exhausted and will eventually slip up and allowing a Form III Master to score a victory, does anyone have questions before we head into the other room and learn these new Forms.” the Battle Master looked around and saw no-one raised their hands.
So everyone got up from their desks and went into the other room, where they learned the moves for the next two Forms. After class, Padme went back to her quarters, where she and Nyckol Meditated until dinner time. It was after dinner, when Padme and Nyckol headed down to the practice room, where they found Obi-Wan and Anakin already working on the two new Forms. Obi-Wan and Nyckol paired the two Padawans together and not only did they master Forms I – III, they even learned Forms IV and V.
Once they finished working out on the Forms, they all headed up to their quarters. They all got cleaned up and headed for bed, in which they all fell into a deep sleep, which they all needed very much.
