a wizard duel. |
| Rictusempra | This curse causes your enemy to laugh
without stopping. |
| Tarantallegra | The curse to make your opponent tap-dance
uncontrollably. |
| Finite Incantatem | A spell that ceases all the spells that are
going on at that moment. |
| Serpensortia | This spell sends a giant black snake at
your opponent. Due to this spell Harry Potter was found to be a
Parseltongue. |
| Obliviate | The Memory Charm. This Charm can alter or
erase one’s memory. |
Book 3 :
| Waddiwasi | A spell to make something shoot up one’s
nostrils. |
| Riddikulus | The spell to finish a Boggart. |
| Impervius | A spell that is used to repel water. |
| Dissendium | The spell that opens the hump of the
one-eyed witch on the third floor, revealing a secret passageway into
the cellar of Honeydukes in Hogsmead. |
| Expecto Petronum | The Petronus Charm. It is used to protect
one from Dementors. |
| Mobiliarbus | A spell to make something levitate and move
from one place to another. |
| Fidelius Charm | One of the most complicated spells. By
performing this spell, certain information is sealed inside a single
person known as Secret-Keeper. This information cannot be obtained
unless the Secret-Keeper decides to reveal it. The Potters had performed
this spell to protect themselves. |
| Hurling Hex | A hex which is generally put on brooms to make them move uncontrollably in air. A broom which has this jinx put on it is very dangerous to ride. |
| Nox | The opposite spell to Lumos. This
spell turns out the light at the tip of the wand. |
| Mobilicorpus | A spell that enables one to move an
unconscious or dead body. |
| Ferula | A useful spell that wraps bandages around
an injured limb. |

something that is not true or right. |
Book 4 :
| Incendio | The Fire-Lighting Spell. |
| Sonorus | Opposite to Quietus. This spell
magnifies one’s voice. Generally used by commentators in a Quidditch
match. |
| Quietus | Opposite spell to Sonorus. |
| Morsemordre | A spell that is mostly known to Death
Eaters. Saying this spell summons the Dark Mark. |
| Stupify | The Stunning Spell. A person or an animal
is Stunned in a flash of red light. |
| Prior Incantato | The Previous Spell Charm. This spell can
form a shadow of or recall the last spell performed by a wand. |
| Enervate | The Reviving Spell. Opposite to the
Stunning Spell. Returns a Stunned person to normal state. |
| Deletrius | A spell that disintegrates the shadow of
something. |
| Reparo | This is the Repairing Charm. Can repair any
object, which is broken. |
| Engorgio | The Engorgement Charm. Increases the size
of the object. |
| Imperio | The Imperius Curse. This curse can
completely control you. One of the three Unforgivable curses. |
| Crucio | The Cruciatus Curse. This curse cause
intense pain. One of the Unforgivable Curses. |
| Avada Kedavra | The Killing Curse. This curse brings
about instant death in a flash of green light. No one has ever survived
this curse except Harry Potter. One of the Unforgivable Curse. |
| Accio | Summoning Charm. Summons the object
directly to the wizard or witch. |
| Banishing Charm | Opposite to the Summoning Charm. Takes the
object away from the witch or wizard. |
| Avis | This spell
emits a sound like a gunshot and sends a number twittering birds flying
through the tip of the wand. |
| Orchidoeus | A spell that conjures a bunch of flowers
from the tip of the wand. |
| Diffindo | A spell that causes something to rip or
tear. |
| Furnunculus | The Furnunculus Curse. Causes boils to
erupt on the face. |
| Densaugeo | A curse that causes teeth to grow out of
control. |
| Impedimenta | The Impediment Jinx. Stops or slows down
anything that is moving towards you. |
| Reducio | The Reducing Charm. Opposite to the
Engorgement Charm. Decreases the volume of any object. |
| Reducto | The Reductor Curse. Blasts away any solid
object in one’s path. |
| Relashio | Using this spell under water releases hot
bubbles of water. |
| Protego | The Shielding Charm. Can reflect minor
jinxes and curses. |
| Bubblehead Charm | Enables the witch or wizard to breath under
the water. |
| Point Me | The Four-Point Spell. Using this spell
results in the tip of the wand pointing towards north. Can be useful
while in a maze or traveling for long distances. |
Book 5 :
| Imperturbable Charm | A Spell that locks a door so that sound cannot penetrate it. |
| Scourgify | The Scourgifing Charm. Can remove dirt or
filth from a cage or under your nails. |
| Evanesco | The Vanishing Charm. Generally used to
empty out fluids from vessels. |
| Portus | This spell turns any object into a Portkey. |
| Legilimens | A spell that enables a witch or wizard to
enter another person’s mind and view his thoughts and worst memories.
You need to be a powerful wizard or a Legilimens to perform this spell
successfully. |
| Stinging Hex | A hex that causes pain and stinging to the victim. |
| Silencio | The Silencing Charm. Stops an animal or a
person to make any noise. |
| Colloportus | The spell that locks a door magically. |
