Down In Flames

That Damn Heat Disclaimer: I was actually offered the show by ASP but I turned her down, I’ve decided that writing fanfiction is more fun then writing actual scripts so I have to say I don’t own Gilmore Girls. Shock, I know. Summary: Set after A-Tisket, A-Tasket. The air conditioner in the Gilmore House is broken. Rory is having trouble sleeping. Literati. A/N: The section in italics is Rory's dream so don't get confused. ------------------------------------------------------ The phone at Luke's had been ringing continuously for the last twenty minutes. The small tables were packed with customers eagerly searching refuge from the hot sun. Luke was trying, with no avail, to take all the orders himself. Jess sat upstairs in their air-conditioned apartment, waiting for his frustrated uncle to call him down to help. He didn’t have to wait long. “Jess, get your punk ass down here and help me!” screamed Luke, up the stairs. “Sure Uncle Luke, I’ll get right on that.” He replied back. Despite his sarcasm, Jess did get up. That phone was getting pretty damn annoying. “Hello?” “Oh, um, hi Jess, is Luke there?” asked Lorelai uncomfortably. She hadn’t talked to him sense the whole bracelet incident. “Yeah, he’s here.” Silence. “Well can I talk to him?” She was no longer uncomfortable, just slightly ticked off. “He’s busy.” “Then, can you ask him, when he’s not busy, if he can come over here and take a look at the air conditioner. It won’t turn on. Rory’s dying from the heat and I’ve gotta get to the Inn.” “Yeah fine, I’ll ask him.” “Thanks. I’ll talk to you later,” “Whatever.” They hung up and Jess ran his hands through his hair. This could be the perfect opportunity to spend time alone with Rory. He pondered the thought and gave into the idea. He knew Luke would probably kill him, but that never stopped him before, right? He headed down the stairs and out the front door without a word. ------------------------------------------------------ “Mom, please tell me Luke is going to fix this air conditioner.” Rorypleaded to her mother, “I can’t stand this heat, all I want to do is sleep.” “Well then, why don’t you?” asked Lorelai slightly amused at her daughter’s over dramatization. “It’s too hot to sleep.” “I called the Diner and Jess said Luke was busy. Hopefully, he’ll be un-busy before you die of heat stroke.” Lorelai said while grabbing her purse and heading for the door, “If he doesn’t get here, just picture Taylor and Mrs. Patty making out in the town square. That image is bound to take some of the heat off.” Rory cringed making Lorelai laugh, and with that she was out the door, off to the air-conditioned Inn. Rory didn’t know what to do with herself. It was too hot to anything but sit. Watching TV was a waste, there was nothing on. She decided to go to bed and read. Picking up Oliver Twist, she got under the sheets and began to read. Before she knew it, her mind began to wander to Dodger, her real life Dodger. It was this damn heat, she couldn’t think straight. She slowly drifted off to sleep, dropping the book at her side. ------------------------------------------------------ She was in her bedroom, reading with Jess. She watched him silently and couldn’t help but shiver, he looked up from his book and met her eyes. She quickly turned her attention back to Lord of the Flies. It was too hot in this room. She got up to get a drink, but was stopped as Jess’s arm grabbed her and turned her around. He backed her towards the wall, staring at her intently. Her heart was racing. She stared at his lips, wanting to kiss him, but too shocked to react. Her back hit the wall, his body against hers, his brown eyes still staring into her blue ones. His lips came crashing down on hers. She forgot too breath, he tasted so good. She moaned his name into his mouth as he continued to place hot kisses on her lips. ------------------------------------------------------ As he came up the porch, he saw that Lorelai’s jeep was no where to be seen. He was relieved, a confrontation with her was not something he was looking forward to. He climbed the stairs and knocked. No answer. He knocked louder this time. Still no answer. Maybe Rory had gone with her mother? He decided to let himself in, might as well get the job done while he waited. The door was unlocked, like every house in the whole town. They were way too trusting. He walked in hesitantly, heading for the living room, where the air-conditioner was most likely held. He stopped momentarily outside Rory’s bedroom. Seeing that her door was open a crack, he peeked in. Rory was on her bed, in a fitful sleep. “She must be having a nightmare.” He thought out loud. He closed the door and crept towards her, ready to shake her awake, but stopped abruptly. “Jess…” she whispered half moaned in her sleep. This caught him off guard. There was no way in hell, that innocent Rory Gilmore was dreaming about him. He wondered what was going on in her head at that very moment. What images were playing in her mind? She was kicking furiously, he didn’t know what to do. He could wake her up, pretend he hadn’t heard her call his name, spare her the embarrassment or he could stand there watching her like a moron. If only Dean were there, to see what he was seeing. He smirked at the thought, then felt guilty about taking pleasure in the situation. He came to the conclusion that waking her up was the best plan of action. He walked towards and lightly shook her shoulder. She stopped kicking and her eyes fluttered open. She looked directly at him and before he could react, she had grabbed his shirt collar and pulled him down on top of her, kissing him forcefully. Her tongue grazed his lower lip demanding entrance, to which he willingly gave. All the blood in Jess’s body was traveling south. Her tongue entered his mouth and they dueled for control. Where the hell did she learn to kiss like that? He had seen her peck Dean on the lips, but nothing even remotely came close to this. Her hands were still on his collar but slowly moved to the back of his neck, pulling him closer. She had never gone this long without breathing. Her lungs were screaming. Jess sensed he urgency and broke the kiss, only to drag his tongue down to her neck, gently sucking. Her senses were on overdrive, her breathing erratic, he was teasing her and just when she thought she couldn’t get any more turned on, he bit her roughly where he had been sucking only seconds before. She arched against him, moaning his name. He gently blew on the spot and moved on towards her collarbone. As he continued to kiss her neck , the realization hit. This was Rory Gilmore. He was kissing Rory Gilmore in her bed, and she was half asleep. He had let himself get caught up in the moment and his instincts had taken him too far. She probably thinks she’s dreaming. If she woke up and found that he was really there she’d freak and if he continued to kiss her like that, well… let’s just say regrettable things would occur. He began to pull away but was stopped by Rory as she again grabbed his shirt. “Stay” she commanded. She was looking at him intensely. Her eyes were dark with lust. She wanted him. “Rory, we can’t do this. I can’t do this, take advantage of you. If we keep going I won’t be able to stop…” His sentence was cut short as Rory brought his lips down on hers with another fiery kiss. He was drowning now. She had no clue what this was doing to him. Although they were fully clothed, his arousal was more then apparent. It took all his power not to rip her clothes off and fuck her into next Tuesday. He knew he couldn’t do that, he refused to take her virginity. He wouldn’t, not like this. His thoughts were interrupted as he felt Rory’s mouth on his neck. She was mimicking what he had done earlier, and she was damn good at it. He felt her hands go up his shirt and he groaned. He couldn’t help but grind her into the bed at the unexpected contact. She gasped and bit his neck, hard. Jess’s self-control was flying out the window, they had to stop. He gently pulled away, sitting on the edge of the bed. “Rory, we need to slow down.” He said halfheartedly. That was something that never came out of Jess Mariano’s mouth. She knew he was right. This wasn’t supposed to happen, they were friends, she had Dean. “Oh my God. I…You…Dean!” Jess twitched angrily at the mention of his name. “I won’t tell him.” “What?” “I said I won’t tell him. It’s my fault I shouldn’t have come in here.” “Jess, I cheated on him. Not only did I cheat on him but now I’ll never be able to kiss him again, not after that.” She pointed towards the bed. “Huh” is all he could say, as stupid as it sounded. This is not what he was expecting. He was expecting her to say it was all a mistake. “I’m going to have to break up with him…” She was cut off as Jess kissed her fiercely, pressing her into the bed, marking her. She instantly responded, opening her legs wider to give him more room to move. He caught her bottom lip between his teeth and gently sucked on it. She suppressed a moan, it was happening again. She had to get control of herself. She placed her hand on his chest, breaking the kiss. “Is that your way of saying you like the idea?” She said while trying to catch her breath. “Sorry, maybe words would have been more appropriate.” “Well considering the fact that I haven’t even broken up with him yet, I’d have to agree with you. This is going to hurt him. I can’t stand hurting people.” “He knew this was going to happen. Why do you think he tried to keep us apart for so long? He knew you couldn’t resist me.” He said suggestively. She blushed. “Hey, why were you in here anyway?” “Your Mom wanted someone to fix the air-conditioner and I had nothing better to do so I decided to check it out. I thought no one was home so I let myself in. But when I passed your bedroom I saw you kinda kicking a little…” he stopped, trying to decide whether to tell her about what he heard or not, “You said my name in your sleep…” “Oh God” The dream and everything after was slowly being digested. “Don’t get all embarrassed, it was nothing.” “God Jess, I practically mauled you.” “It’s no big deal, Rory.” Then she spotted it, the purple mark on his neck from where she had bit him. “Does that hurt?” She pointed at the spot. “No, not really” “I’m so sorry. It didn’t mean to bite you.” He couldn’t help but laugh at her apology. She still had no clue. “Rory, you don’t need to apologize. Pain and pleasure are closely related.” He looked her directly in the eye as he said this. She began to fidget under his stare. “Jess, you need to leave.” She said while pushing him towards the bedroom door. He was standing in front of the handle and she couldn’t open it. “Why so eager to get rid of me?” he asked amused. “Jess, move away from the door.” “Not until you tell me why you suddenly want me to leave.” “Jess…” “Rory…” “Don’t you have an air-conditioner to fix?” “Just tell me Rory, I’d really like to know.” He saw her contemplating an answer, her brow was furrowed in concentration. She looked like she was going to say something but instead she put her hand on his chest and gently pushed him against the door, kissing him hard. He leaned forward and stroked his lips against hers, holding her against his chest. Her bottom lip was warm and swollen, and he drew it into his mouth, dragging his tongue back and forth against it. Rory caught her breath and he heard a pleading moan in the back of her throat. He deepened the kiss, running his hands through her hair but stopped when he felt the door open behind him. “Hey, that’s not fair.” “It had to be done.” “Rory, what’s wrong?” He asked while leaning against the wall. “A lot has happened, I just need time to process it all and kissing like that isn’t helping. In fact it’s the opposite of help. I’m not even broken up with Dean and I’ve already gone farther with you then I ever have with him. It’s not right, and if you stay here, god only knows what I’ll do and…stop leaning like that!” “Leaning like what?” he asked innocently. “Jess, I’m warning you.” “And what are you going to do to me if I don’t?” She took a step closer to him grabbed his sleeve and pulled him out the door. “There, now go fix the air-conditioner. I will be in the kitchen eating the left-over Indian food. We are going to stay in separate rooms. If we end up in the same room, we will stay at least 3 feet away from each other, understand?” “Don’t you think that’s a little drastic?” She gave him the look, a mini version of her withering stare. This was a sure fire sign that she was completely serious. “Alright if that’s what you think is best, I’ll be in the living room. If you need me just call. Oh and try not to fall asleep this time, I have work to do and I don’t want to get distracted again.” He stated suggestively while walking into the living room. “This is going to be a long day…”
