While Comstar has recently tried to 'modernise', changing some of its fundamental philosophies, its interpretation of Blake's works and the way it deals with the rest of the Sphere, Word of Blake are committed to maintaining the old ways. They believe Blake's writings should be taken literally and that anyone who disagrees is a heretic.
WoB took control of Terra in 3058 and less than 10 years later, following the Civil War between the Federated Suns and the Lyran Commonwealth (formerly united as the Federated Commonwealth), they launched an assault on the Inner Sphere, which became known as the Jihad. This crusade was aimed at conquering as much of the Inner Sphere as possible and converting the citizens of the worlds they conquered to the Blakist faith. They stopped at nothing - even using nuclear weapons, which had been outlawed centuries earlier by the Ares Conventions of warfare.
Although they were eventually defeated, some 10 years later, the war would have far-reaching consequences for the entire Inner Sphere...
History
Word of Blake is a fanatical splinter group of Comstar which formed after internal infighting among its senior personnel reached critical proportions. Although divisions had run deep for some time, it wasn't until 3052, after the Clan invasion had ended with the battle of Tukayyid, that Precentor Demona Aziz fled to the Free Worlds League, taking her followers with her to found the new order.
