ORIGINS & HISTORY The Free Worlds League began as an informal alliance between the three largest independent states that existed in that region of space. Unusually, they had little in common, politically, ethnically or culturally. They could almost be said to represent the Inner Sphere in a microcosm: the Marik Commonwealth was created through force of arms, the Federation of Oriente through diplomacy and the Principality of Regulus through wealth and connections created by commerce. The balance of characteristics between these founding nations would forever shape the future of the League, giving it an unmatched diversity, but also giving rise to frequent unrest, which threatened to tear it apart.
