Overview:
The BCAF issued a requirement for a heavy LRM carrier to provide fire support for mech and armour units. Flush with the success of their main battle tanks, Vulcan got to work, designing their largest vehicle to date. They spared no expense to create the most advanced armoured fire support vehicle possible.
Capabilities:
Named after a Macedonian General in Alexander the Great's all-conquering army, the Nicator certainly commands respect on the battlefield. With its trio of turret mounted LRM20 racks, augmented by the Artemis IV fire control system, it can deliver up to 60 long range missiles to anything unlucky enough to be within range. With 2 tons of ammo for each launcher, it can stay in the fight for extended periods.
Backup weaponry comes in the form of two pairs of medium lasers, built in to the front and rear of the chassis.
The Nicator's longevity on the battlefield is aided by seventeen tons of armour, as well as ECM, AMS and CASE. An extra-light fusion engine was needed to give it its top speed of over 50kph.
Deployment
Although the Nicator is undoubtedly a potent missile track, having performed well in trials so far, development and productions costs have been high. Indeed, a single Nicator costs as much as some assault mechs. For the time being, they are being produced in limited numbers and deployed with BCAF units guarding particularly sensitive installations on Coalition border worlds.
