Overview:

Also finding a CP-10-Z in their armoury, they discovered it's weakness was its poor armour protection.

Ten tons of armour was never going to be enough for a mech supposed to wade into the heaviest fighting...a role they inferred from its armament, which was principally geared towards short and medium range combat.

Capabilities:

Realising that the 10-Z was meant to be more of an infighter, the techs at Coldstream decided to keep the mech's main weapon - an enormous AC20 autocannon.

As with the 10-Q conversion, downgrading the engine, freed up enough space to allocate a full complement of armour...17.5 tons' worth.

Even after that they still had weight and space to spare, so the missile racks were augmented with the Artemis fire control system, with the LRM10 launcher getting an extra ton of ammo, an extended range particle cannon was installed in the right arm and an additional medium laser was fitted, along with the other two, in the left arm.

The 12 single heat sinks were swapped for double sinks, ensuring the 14-Z can fire either all its long range weapons or all its short range weapons, without overheating.

The addition of CASE in both side torsos was also a must, given all the ammo it carried.
