Since then, Jerome Blake has been revered by all members of Comstar, who utter his name almost as a religious invocation. His written works are their scripture and govern all aspects of life within the organisation. They have an obsession with technology and jealously guard the secrets of their HPGs. Since they are the only ones who can operate and maintain these interstellar communication devices, Comstar wields a great deal of power within the Inner Sphere. Until recently, they also had the added prestige of governing Terra - the cradle of humanity. After the Com Guards' defeat at the hands of Word of Blake forces in 3058, the order relocated their headquarters to Tukayyid, in the Free Rasalhague Republic.
History
Comstar is the organisation formed in 2786 by the Terran government's Minister of Communications, Jerome Blake, after his re-organisation of the Department of Communications. It exists to preserve mankind's greatest technological achievements, which include the Inner Sphere's network of Hyperpulse Generators, or HPGs, which allow near-instantaneous interstellar communications. It was transformed into the quasi-religious order it is today by Blake's successor, Conrad Toyama.
