Bruno
Image Collection Manager

Introduction

This site is inactive. Please go here for the current version.

Bruno is a Macintosh program for viewing, organizing, and verifying image file collections. Bruno may be used to work with any type of file, including JPEG, TIFF, GIF, MP3, and MPEG files, but was developed primarily for image files. Bruno is capabile of displaying most graphic file formats and can be used to browse multiple directories of image files.

Bruno contains a number of tools for organizing file collections, including moving, copying, deleting, and renaming files. Once files are organized into a collection, Bruno can create a master list that can be used to verify individual files and to recreate the collection structure when the collection is transfered between systems.

Verification of files is done by calculating a 32 bit cyclic redundancy code, or CRC, for each file. The CRC, along with the file size, is used to uniquely identify each file, so it can be identified even if the file name has been changed.

Bruno can be used to assist in exchanging file collections over the Internet with the aid of Thoth newsreader. To exchange a collection of files a master list is posted along with the individual files. The downloader can then use the master list to verify the files, check the collection for completeness, and recreate the collection structure.
