This is something Sarah Larson wrote about Lauralee (they were cousins).
This poem is for the sweetest girl I will ever know:
IN MEMORY OF LAURALEE
I couldn't say her life was perfect
For it's true, many problems she had.
But I don't see this as an excuse,
"To hurt her because she's bad."
Despite the hard times in her life
there was something about her face.
If you ever saw her you would know
It was her smile that never showed disgrace.
Here strong will held her high
A smile rarely left without a trace.
And I know she will always be in my heart,
But right now there's that empty space.
It's the coldness and the love she never had
From anyone in her life.
I wish it wasn't too late to show her,
Now all we can do is cry.
This void is something I'll have to fill
Against the SICK beings in this world.
Now she's gone forever,
But her smile I will always hold.
As your co-worker, cousin . . . and most importantly friend, I will miss you Lauralee.
