* Welcome to ARail Central, this a beta version of my website. Click on links page, and you will find most if not all of the links are working on that page. Add it to the favorites list in your browser, as there many great Australian rail related sites on the links page.

Australia now has two trans-continental lines, the original East-West trans line across the Nullarbor Plains to Kalgoorlie and Perth, and the new North-South line from Tarcoola to Darwin through Alice Springs, both standard guage(1435mm) lines. Of the other Australian railways, broad guage(1600mm) is used in Victoria and South Australia, and narrow guage(1067mm) in Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania. The isolated Iron Ore roads in North-Western Australia are built to the heavier U.S. railroad standards.

Find out about the new Alice Springs-Darwin railway.
