Notes:     The Galaxy class is Starfleet's flagship class, as one of the most capable starships, the Galaxies were charged with exploration and defense of the Federation.  It should be noted that the saucer section can separate from the star drive section, this makes the Galaxy class a formidable warship when relived of most of its mass.   Recently the Galaxies have proven that although they have a strong offensive capability they lack a strong defense, the Dominion has been able to destroy several of the Galaxy classes since first contact with the Federation.
