Tourette Syndrome

Tourette Syndrome or Tourette Disorder is a neurological disorder that causes the person to have Vocal(sound) or motor(movement) tics which range in simple twitching to jumping, cussing, etc. These actions are very disturbing for both the victim and the onlooker. Sadly these tics can't be controlled. Only rarely are people able to suppress the tics, and if the victim succeeds in suppressing them then the tics will only get worse. A person usually begins to have Tourette Syndrome at the ages of 6-7 They start to worsen at the age 10 or 11. The comforting thought is that the severety of the syndrome starts to diminish by 18 years of age. Some lucky people have mild tics. Yet some people have severe tics. The effects of tics varies from person to person. Children often have trouble coping with Tourette Syndrome because of this ->

-The child's learning ability is somewhat impared even if the child is a genius.

-The child is laughed at by hatefull kids.

- Various other things.

So therefore the teacher should take this in to account and help the child not punish the child for intrupting class because of an uncontrollable tic.
