Foriegn Traders

In 1773, the only way that the outside world could trade with Japan was via Nagasaki, on the island Deshima which is in Nagasaki harbour, and only Dutch, Portuguese, and Chinese traders were allowed at all.

It was stricly forbidden for the forigners to leave Nagasaki, or to promote Christanity, or to bring a Christian priest to Japan. There were also laws strictly specifying how much could be bought and sold, when the forign boats had to leave, etc. (links to online information to be added)

A person playing a forign trader is somewhat restricted therefore, however you can sneak about in disguse, and as long as you dont get found out, youre fine. You might also find people willing to trade with you illicitly for more than is legal, for example you could be approached by people planning a rebellion.
