The Traxxas Stampede

Take a look at my pics! #1 is a picture of my Electric Deep Vee Traxxas Blast Radio Control Boat. Here are the specs:

Hull Type: High Performance Modified "V"

Dead Rise Angle: 20 Degrees

Hull Length: 23.75 inches (603mm)

Beam: 5.75 inches (146mm)

Weight: 28oz (.793 Kg)

Draft: 3.25 inches (83mm)

Speed Control Type: Electronic

Motor: Stinger 20-Turn

Drive System: Direct Drive

Outdrive: Adjustable Surface Piercing

This has been my boat for about a year now and it has served me well. The only downside is that the radio gear and speed control tend to get wet and short circuit, leading to a 24-hour drying out session. This summer, I finally fixed that problem with some silicone sealant. Apply silicone to the wires sticking out of speed control, to the servo wires, and underneath the on/off switch. I also applied a bead of silicone underneath the top hatch for extra waterproofing when water sloshes on boat's bow (link 4). This may cause lack of air flow throughout central compartment, so I am currently installing a colling kit.

My latest desire is a Traxxas Stampede RTR 2WD Monster Truck with Traxxas XL-1 speed control and a TQ radio system. Click on the 6th link to see the Stampede.

Be sure to check out my movies on my rc vehicles, they're pretty cool!

UPDATE, 7/29/03: I finally got the Stampede! It came today (July 29, 2003) and performed amazingly. I absolutely love the speed and steering response. Considering upgrading shocks, shock caps, motor, and high torque servo. See pics! Movie soon!

I'll have some movies of my boats in action this week, if not, then in two weeks when I get back from camp.

UPDATE, 7/31/03: I finished the installation of my water cooling kit for the Blast just last night, it looks like it's going to work real well. At first the directions sounded complicated, but all you really have to do is drill a few holes and take out your speed control and radio. I also put my radio receiver in a rubber balloon to complete my waterproofing job. I will have the pictures uploaded in 2 weeks.

UPDATE, 9/24/03: Hi again, it's been a while since I updated this site due to the start of school. The water cooling system on the Blast actually reduced the speed by about 5 mph, so I clipped the pickup shorter so it would not interfere with the hull/water. I have upgraded my Stampede with a Trinity P2K2 Pro 19T motor and a JR Z590 metal gear race servo. If you own a 'Pede and are considering a motor upgrade, I highly suggest the P2K2 Pro. It boosts your acceleration and gives you about 6 mph more in speed. It is extremely noticeable. The servo I installed is extremely durable, as far as stripping the gears goes, but it is just too short by about 3 mm to fit into the 'pede chassis. So I drilled new holes and it works great. My 'Pede goes around 32 mph now, when I am using a 7-cell 3000mah NiMH pack. I actually outran a car in a 30 mph speed zone! I own four of these packs, all hump packs.

***I also own a Dodge Viper Mini-Z by Kyosho. It is so fast and I love the pistol grip transmitter.

***I've been kind of lazy with picture/movie updating, but I think I'll get some of each in by the end of this week (9/27/03). But remember, I only have 20 MB to use. Later!!!
