The fruits of the Tree, before the telescope, were seen as stars that crossed the heavens and designated the seven firmaments. As lights in heaven these were given the names of the seven Arch-Angels in Arabic cosmology. Today, in the west, these are commonly known as the visible planets and derive their names from Roman diety as altered by early Christian clergy into the common era of Greek and Roman orthodoxy.
