CAE-003 Alcohol Lamps and Stoves ..... $10.00

An alcohol stove, two cup braces, one wind shield, and vial with cork for fuel. Denatured alcohol, moonshine, or Puerto Rican 151 rum may be used as fuel.

Ethanol was used for lamp oil and cooking in the 1600's. Small alcohol stoves (also called "spirit lamps") were commonly used by travelers in the 17th century to warm food and themselves. Before the American Civil War many farmers in the United States had an alcohol still to turn crop waste into free lamp oil and stove fuel for the farmer's family use. Conflict over taxation was not unusual; one example was the Whiskey Rebellion in 1791.

What is in my retail price?
A reproduction black powder fowler costs me the retail plus shipping. This is a cost to me of $667 to $1,295. The gun must then be inspected for irregularities such as a slow lock, and/or a vent hole addition, or adjustment. The authenticity of the historical reproduction is evaluated and period hardware may be added to replace the choice of the manufacturer. Accurate proof marks are then added, also. Our parts are provided by Dixie Gun Works and Track of the Wolf. It is then taken to the range to test the reliability of the piece. We do not sight in the flintlock. For these services I add a small percentage to the retail price plus the cost of additional parts. There is no charge for shipping.

We only ship to the lower 48 States in the United States of America. Ohio purchasers need add 7.25% as sales tax. No refunds.

Prices have shown an increase of 300% since 1980. To stay in business, gunsmiths rarely work from blank gunstocks, today. We now begin with a manufactured CNC stock as found in kits. These finished flintlocks generally range in price from $1800 to $3000. My personal goal is to bring a safe and reliable historically accurate tested piece to the general public at an affordable price between $800 and $1500.
