Lesson Three

Objectives:

1.      Students use acquired knowledge for a real life practical purpose.

2.      Students finish an educational resource to promote a positive learning environment.

Activity One:              15 minutes

1.      Go over homework questions 5 to 8.

2.      Review assigned homework terminology – keyboard, mouse, floppy concepts

 

Activity Two:              20 minutes

1.      Finish posters

2.      Post posters on wall

3.      This assignment will be one used to show learning skills on the e-teacher report cards.

Activity Three: 30 minutes

1.      Introduce Purchasing a computer assignment and evaluation

2.      Students create a PowerPoint slide show to display the computer of their dreams.

3.      The computer has to be built around a specific purpose.  Below are some examples.

·        Playing video Games

·        Programming

·        Creating graphics/Art

·        Homework assignments

4.      The students have to explain all the hardware parts they add to their computer and why it is a good part for the computer they want to build.

(i.e. Why would you want 256 ram for computer ?)

5.   The computer parts must also be priced showing a total cost for the computer built.

6.   The presentation must follow the below format.

·        The reason you built your particular computer.

·        What computer hardware parts make up your computer

·        Explain the purpose for each hardware part

·        Where would you purchase these computer parts

·        What is the cost of each computer part

Prepare a PowerPoint show on your dream computer.  Use the features in power point to prepare an effective presentation.  Remember that too many effects can detract from the overall quality of your presentation.  The purpose of this PowerPoint presentation is to communicate your knowledge and understanding of computer hardware.  This assignment will provide a communication mark.
