For all of you who don't know, which may be a lot, there is a new lacrosse store in Bel Air! It's called Dr.Laxx and is located in the shopping center by Superfresh and Play it Again Sports. There is no sign as of yet, so you have to look hard! Anyways, the shop is sweet, with a goal to shoot on, and plenty of merchandise, including heads, shafts, cleats, turf shoes, and clothes. You know what that means?! No more driving to Lax World for lacrosse stuff! The other good thing about Dr. Laxx is that they will string and dye sticks there for you, so bring 'em up. Since I am one of the stringers, you can request any pocket I put up on here, and I will do it for you. Finally, their prices beat Lax World and Bacarach hardcore, so check it out!
The Special K Pocket is something I have just thought up that involves a piece of mesh(preferably 6 diamond) in the middle, with a spiffed up traditional on the sides. Check out the pics below of the Special K Pocket!
The only thing I can say about this pocket is wow, can it rip shots. The Special K Pocket has the quickest release I've ever felt, so it's an excellent shooters stick. If you want to make this pocket, you're going to need a strip of mesh, which you probably want to cut out of an old head. The dimensions I use for normal mesh is 4 holes across, and I use 3 for 6 diamond mesh. You then need sidewall strings, and about 4 feet of nylon. If you want me to string this for you, bring it to Dr. Laxx! Thats where I string sticks!
This is a pretty sweet head that I actually messed up in making. I was at first trying to make a personal version of the Rockit Pockit, which didn't turn out, but this did, and it's pretty sweet. It also didn't take as much time as I expected. The M Type is a good pocket that works in quickly, and has a nice, consistent throw. Check out a picture below.
Another pocket I have recently strung is the Submarine Pocket. This pocket has the best hold of the three pictured here, and probably the best all around throw. This is the one most recommended for all positions, even defense, where the others are mainly for attackmen and middies. Check it out in some of these pics. The only bad thing about this is that I ran out of string in the middle part, so if I do it again, it will be seriously awesome.
