*3* 2) *me and my attempt at stopping a stupid snowstorm that wouldn't go away* ((I see but one way to stop this snow storm)) Kaily stood next to her bleeding friend. She was worried about Sprix who ran off and Left spykkie with her. "This snow storm is getting very bad Spykkie. I see but one way to stop it." Kaily said to her half dead comrade. And with that she was off. Using her teleportation powers she teleported herself to O-Zone layer and then using her amazing powers of levitation she flew skyward until she made her way into Heaven. Once there she flew to God and using her Psychic powers to carry out a conversation with The Almighty she said... And it went something like this "Uh...hello lord. I'll make this quick. Now you see there's this snowstorm you have created on earth and it's causing quite the problem for me and some others. Now I have a bleeding half dead friend left in the snow, a crazy schizophrenic pack member chasing after a dog sled and a leader who ignores the call of the pack. All lost in the darn snow so if you could..." Kaily said as she positioned her paw in a matter of fact position. In a couple of minutes Kaily was picked up by the scruff and booted out of heaven. Talk about hard love. Kaily began to fall to the ground at a tediously high speed. Meanwhile on the ground the half dead Spykkie and Sprix saw an object falling to the earth. It was on fire and falling at 235689561456013856023856690562375603560198560192475610927569120456019569015690156195690175679013456790560187945 miles an hour. As the object fell closer spykkie was able to see some deranged looking dog with four legs extended and straight and claws extracted from all four paws. The odd creature had its tongue hanging from its mouth with slobber flying above it. It fur was lit with fire and swishing everywhere. The creature’s eyes were as wide as would be allowed… until it came closer...and closer...and closer…then... BBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!! *rumble, rumble, rumble* The 23 feet of snow left over from the now stopped snow storm halted kaily's fall so that she only fell 234 feet toward the earth’s core. An hour or so later a wet, cold, and shaking animal crawled out of the endless hole. Fur tipped with black and smoke flying off her body everywhere. She was panting and here eyes were still wide open. She limped over to spykkie like a drunken man and fell with her legs sliding to the right and left of her body, her tongue still hanging from her mouth. She concentrated for a minute and healed herself. "Well now that the snow storm is gone… Let's continue this!!" She said proudly of her accomplishment.
AAAAAARRRRRRROOOOO... We are the wolves of ice. The wind howls beside us, the ice is our home. The months of darkness haunts the land, and food is a rare find. Storms of ice and snow rage and rule the land. We are the hidden hunters and howlers of the icy chill. Can you live beside the wolves? Will you be able to become an ice wolf? Your path is right ahead, your destiny is before you. The pack has called, the wolve are waiting... -© blueyewolf Well hello there!! Right now we're in the general clearing where all rps start!!:D The weather is anything but constant and the scene often changes. But you get used to it:D Well Here is a little history on the guild quoted directly from Blue's mouth explaining how this guild came to be!! Directly from the source!! "I went to the zoo three years ago and saw a wolf, I fell in love with them! I found later that they were endangered and wanted to help some way. then I started playing on neopets. I heard of guilds, and soon enough I started one of my own! :D but the main goal of the guild is to teach, and help people understand wolves :)" Astounding eh? Well this is why Blue started the guild. I asked her myself and this was her responce. I personally think it's a wonderful idea and a great thing to do. People need to understand wolves. They are amazing creatures that deserve respect. Although humans fail to do as much. Well I guess I can amuse you with some wolf tales!!! Enjoy!!:D Werewolves and the Big Bad Wolf helped induce generations of people to believe that the wolf was a snarling, lurking beast hiding in the forest waiting for someone to drop by for lunch. Between 1520 and 1630, over 30 000 supposedly proven cases of werewolves were documented. Most of these people received harsh treatment from their persecutors. The "Werewolves" may have suffered from a psychological disorder, called lcanthropy, or be under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs, or even have had rabies. Sometimes people who were up to no good skulked around in wolf skins, trying to scare the populous for their own devious reasons, this may have helped fuel the werewolf legend. The interest in the myth of werewolves has been kept alive by tales like Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. More recently by movies. The first Werewolf movie was titled "The Werewolf" and was made in 1913. Since then we have crowded into picture theatres to be terrified by movies like "The Howling" and "An American Werewolf in London" and lots more. Scratching your head, you wonder what a place like this would be doing in the middle of nowhere. You take a second to ponder. As your mind begins to comprehend a conclusion to this happening, a small, white Aisha pops infront of your face from nowhere. He has a blinding white coat, with blue flames licking occasional parts of his body. The ornaments that decorate his body are silver rings on his ears, tail, and arm. The shadows the Aisha casts on the ground are of deep blue hue, the shadows on his own body being a different shade. His sudden appearance stuns you for a second. Then you scramble to your feet.
As sad as it is it's very true. Here's a nice tale about wolves to cheer you up!!:D Another famous tale that has not been so deadly for wolves is about the twin brothers Romulus and Remus, who are incorporated into the arms of the city of Rome. They were condemned to death as babies and thrown into the River Tiber. They were the illegitimate sons of the vestal virgin Rhea Silvia and the god Mars. A female wolf found the twins, her maternal instincts took over and she suckled them and took them to a cave overlooking Rome. The children were later discovered by a shepherd and became part of his family. There are other stories of children being raised by wolves, there were several cases recorded between 1843 and 1933 in India. In 1920 a Doctor Singh brought back two girls to his orphanage who had lived with wolves. The oldest girl was eight and they walked on all fours at their time of rescue. They fed entirly on raw meat, and they lapped their water crouched on all fours. When they felt threatened, they hunched their backs, bared their teeth and growled. .:*Give G0ldlion a Helping Paw*:.
A wolf is the most beautiful thing we can never hope to understand.. my cat follows in at a close second.. Summary Time. This guild was never started as an rp guild. It grew into one over time. The Ice Wolf Pack was started as a way to teach people about wolves.. as Blue said.. and don't get me wrong this guild does teach. But it grew more active with more people and fellow pack members. And then Role Plays started in the message boards and the guild was turned upside down. It now became an active rp guild that taught people about wolves. Fun and Educational:D The Role Plays started off as wolf rps with members acting out as wolves.. well.. uh Icy and I came in and turned that upside down:D Bad us. We turned a friendly one time Anime rp into over 1400 Anime posts. And very possibly ALOT more. But all the same the Rp is the highlight of the guild Anime rp or wolf. Although according to Blue new rules will be added as we Anime Rp just a bit too much^_^;;
Hope the rules arn't too harsh... I love to Anime Rp and I've made some very good friends in this guild!! The only reason I come on neopets anymore is to Rp at my guild. Neopets has become very expensive and money manipulated. More hackers are about and 100 times as many scammers. The neopets team pulls tricks on us and takes away out petpets. They have NO RIGHT to go into our accounts and touch ANYTHING inside them. Neopets just isn't the same as it was long ago like I remember it 38 months ago when I joined... *sighs* *sighs* More Stuff!!: Wolf Facts Ever wonder about what wolves are.. you know... the facts... Height at shoulder is 26"-36". Wolf packs have very complex social structures. To maintain group order, wolves have a highly developed system of communication which includes many different facial expressions, body postures, and vocalizations. Such communications are essential to maintain the structure and survival of the pack. Normally, only the dominant (Alpha) pair in a pack breeds. Mating occurs in February-March with an average of 4-7 pups born 63 days later. Approximately 50% of the pups do not survive their first year due to such factors as injury, disease, and starvation. Wolves are opportunistic and do kill healthy prey if they are able to catch them. Generally, however, it is the weak, sick, crippled, parasite infested, young or old prey that are most vulnerable. By culling unfit prey, wolves play a vital role in the process of natural selection. In Yellowstone Park, wolves are promoting increased biodiversity as they kill coyotes, and through predation on elk, provide carcasses that benefit grizzlies and scanvengers such as eagles and wolverines. Wolf packs occupy territories that may range in size from less than fifty to more than one thousand square miles. Factors affecting territory size include size of area available, number of wolves in the whole population, and density of prey. Approximately sixty percent of young wolves leave their family packs (this phenomenon is known as dispersal), most doing so by two years of age. Dispersing wolves leave their natal territory to find a mate and an unoccupied territory in which to begin a new pack. They have been documented to travel more than five hundred airline miles during dispersal. Wolf occupied territories are some seventy five miles from the Maine border in and adjacent to the Laurentide Reserve in southern Quebec. Known wolf range extends south to the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, within fifty miles of Maine. In August 1993, a two year old female eastern timber wolf was killed by a hunter from Pennsylvania northwest of Moosehead Lake. The animal was identified as a wolf through DNA comparison with a known wolf from eastern Canada. The Province of Quebec allows the hunting and trapping of wolves south to the Maine border for more than five months of each year. Although, according to the Quebec government, wolves have not been documented south of the St. Lawrence River, there is apparently no requirement that wolves shot or trapped in this area be reported. Trapping is also permitted within the Laurentide Reserve, where population density is estimated to be one wolf per sixty square miles. Wolves feed primarily on ungulates. In Maine, they would feed primarily on moose, deer and beaver. In recent years, Maine's pre-hunting season deer and moose populations combined have approximated 400,000 animals. A recovered population of 100 wolves (approximately 15-25 packs) would annually take less than one percent of either the pre-hunt or post-hunt populations of deer and moose combined and far fewer than the number of animals killed annually in collisions with motor vehicles. According to the recovery plan for the eastern timber wolf which was developed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Maine and northern New Hampshire contain some 12,800 square miles of potentially suitable wolf habitat. Wolves do not require wilderness. They do require a healthy prey base, sufficient habitat, and most importantly, tolerance by people who allow them to survive. Timber harvesting and wildlife management practices that promote a diverse and productive forest are beneficial to wolves. Wolf recovery can result in economic benefits. In a Federal Environmental Impact Statement, it was estimated that wolf recovery in Yellowstone would result in increased visitor expenditures in the region in the amount of $23,000,000.00 per year. The International Wolf Center located in Ely, Minnesota (pop. 4,000), averages some 50,000 visitors annually. Wolf related ecotourism (howling and tracking) is becoming increasingly popular in both the U.S. and Canada, such as in Quebec's Jacques-Cartier Provincial Park and Laurentide Reserve. In the summer of 1997, one ecotourism company in the Reserve had 3000 customers for its wolf howling excursions. Wolves may be present in Maine. If you see an animal that you believe may be a wolf, or if you see its sign, observe its behavior and as soon as possible, call the Maine Wolf Sighting Hot Line at 1-800-818-WOLF. Take pictures or make notes and record the exact location of the sighting. Documentation of the presence of wolves in Maine, if they are present, is critical to their successful recovery.
Fiction: Where wolf populations recover, hunting would have to be limited or stopped completely.
Fact: Minnesota has the largest wolf population in the lower 48 states with an estimated 2,000 animals. In 1994, some 500,000 firearms and bow deer hunting licenses were sold in the state. During the last two decades, both wolf and white tailed deer populations have increased greatly. In fact, Minnesota's registered deer harvest increased from a low of 36,000 animals in 1976, to a high of 229,000 animals in 1992. Furthermore, Minnesota ranks first in the nation in the number of trophy buck entries in the Boone & Crockett Club's "Records of North American Big Game." Wolf recovery has been occurring in Wisconsin for some twenty years. Wisconsin ranks second in the number of trophy whitetails listed in the Boone & Crockett Club record books. It's 650,000 firearms deer hunters harvest some 350,000 deer annually. (Sources: Minnesota DNR, Duluth News Tribune 10/29/95, Wisconsin DNR Life Tracks) Fiction: Wolves would decimate Maine's deer and moose herds. Fact: A population of 100 wolves (approximately 15-25 packs) would take less than one percent of the combined moose and deer populations. Very young, old or unfit animals are most susceptible to predation. A study conducted in Algonquin Provincial Park showed 58 percent of deer killed by wolves in winter to be six years of age and older even though deer in this class accounted for only 10 percentof the population. Wolves also may prey heavily on beaver during the months of open water. Some 12-16,000 coyotes live in Maine. They feed primarily on deer, snowshoe hare, small mammals and berries, and they take an estimated 22,000 deer in Maine annually. Wolves generally kill and harass coyotes and there is growing evidence that coyote populations decrease in wolf occupied territories. For example, with wolf recovery in Yellowstone National Park, it is estimated that coyote populations will decline some 40-70%. (Sources: Maine Dept. of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, Wisconsin DNR Life Tracks, Francois Potvin & Helene Jolicoeur "Wolf diet and prey selectivity during two periods for deer in Quebec: decline versus expansion," Strickland and Rutter "Mammals of Algonquin Provincial Park," Rick McIntyre pers. comm.) Fiction: Wolves would close the north woods to timber harvesting and development.
Fiction: Wolf recovery will not benefit Maine's economy.
Fact: Wolf recovery in Yellowstone National Park and adjacent areas has resulted in a surge in ecotourism revenue. In Ontario's Algonquin Provincial Park, more than 74,000 people participated in public wolf howls from 1963-1993. Since it's opening in 1993, Ely, Minnesota's International Wolf Center has received some 50,000 visitors each year. The Center generates some $3 million in annual economic activity and has created an estimated 66 jobs. In Quebec's Jacques-Cartier Provincial Park, one entrepreneur grossed $80,000 Canadian from January-April 1995 conducting wolf howling and tracking expeditions. Tourism is a $3 billion per year industry in Maine. With 70 million people within a one day drive of Maine, sporting camps, guides, motels, restaurants, gift shops, and bookstores are among those who stand to benefit from wolf-related ecotourism.
