Our Wish Came True

In the spring issue of our newsletter, we placed a "Wanted ad" and asked for a donation of a little wagon to pull the smallest of our Nature Area visitors along the paths. As soon as the airport manager, Derek Thiel, learned about the request, he knew exactly the person to contact.

Art Cortis, the owner of the Grosse Ile Pilot House, stored a "Big Foot Panel Wagon" in his garage and immediately agreed to donate it to the GINLC. At the time he was very happy that the wagon would be put to good use and he hoped that many little kids would enjoy their ride through nature. Although we have been recently saddened by the news that Mr. Cortis passed away on June 24th, we will remember him with fondness whenever we put the wagon to use with the youngsters.
