My Online Journal~ January 2003

Well, the holidays were so busy, all I did was finish a scribble that I would hardly call art!  Definitely nothing to brag about, but hey, at least it's something!

It was a busy holiday, visiting both families, shopping...if I did not worry so much about the "little" hang-ups in life, it would have been perfect!  I love Christmas shopping ...minus the crowds of rude people on the roads and in the stores.

I did not make a New Year's resolution this year.  Last year I made one.  I made it in November.  I wanted a head start because I hardly EVER kept resolutions I made.  Probably because I always put them off 'till January first just like everyone else!  So I thought about it, and decided to work on it then.  And I kept it!  YAY for me!

It was to lose weight.  My goal was to get back to my "original" pant size.  Which is a 9/10.  And I did it.  By May.  HOORAY!!!  I was so excited.  I started out an 18.  I was WELL over 200lbs.  (about 230lbs.)  I didn't keep weighing myself thru all that though.  I began to, but then I got frustrated that I would stay the same for a week or so at a time, but my size decreased!  Since that was what mattered, size that is, I stopped weighing myself.

I had joined Bally Total Fitness®, and I exercised 6-7 times per week.  It is only recommended that you exercise 5 times per week to give your body a break.  I ran for 1 hour every day (worked my way up from a brisk walk-jog/walk-run!) then did weights 4-5 days at first then 5-6 days.

I was eating lots of fruits, veggies, my fair share of protein etc...the key is I did not ever starve myself.  Keeping consistent with my exercise helped my metabolism.  I had a goal and I kept it.  YAY FOR ME!

Now, it is January 2003 and I have kept it off!  YAY!!!  No matter what your resolution this year, whatever you do, if you are sincere about keeping it, DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES!  I.e. because you're stressed, you'll give up, you don't have time...MAKE time.  DEAL with the stress by writing a journal, squeezing a stress ball or physical activity.  Don't give up!  You deserve to be proud of yourself for keeping your resolution!!!
