Welcome to Defence Against the Dark Arts class. The Dark Arts differ from other forms of magic in the intent of the wizard using it. Most magic is relatively neutral--it can be used for bad or good. Some magic, however, is Evil in it's intention through and though. This intention to do harm places said magic into the realm of the Dark Arts. However, simply casting a Curse spell doesn't mean that a person is using the Dark Arts. Ultimately, the deep, true intention of the caster is what makes the difference.
The intention of this class is to make sure you are prepared when faced with such forms of magic. Here you will learn the ways of many curses and creatures, and even learn to work them to your advantage. Things learned in this class are to be used responsibly and with great care, so if you have come with the intention of learning these things and using them freely, get that idea out of your head now or leave.
